Hello all. New to this side of the forum, was on the 2 stroke side a lot. Been doing a lot of reading on this side the last few weeks but i have a couple of questions.

Looking to buy a 2009 rtx se with just over 6000km on it. Current owner is its 2nd (I know the guy) It is pretty stock but has c&a skis (not sure which ones), polaris idler wheels, skinz seat (just a cover i think), has an aftermarket temp gauge installed, k&n filters (want the stock airbox but owner doesn't have) a hacker? fuel controller and barker exhaust muffler which is not currently on the sled.

I guess what I would like to know is if anyone knows about the fuel controller and whether or not it really has any effect good or bad in the long run. If I were to purchase i would return to stock anyhow. Also I currently ride an 03 viper (this would be my first 4 stroke never even rode one) and I would like to know if it would be a comparable ride. I mostly trail ride but like to go off trail quite a bit as well. Mostly looking at the nytro as it seams to be the more all around fun sled of the yamaha's. I have looked at other brands but after riding a few i wasn't impressed and after seeing the simple things break and ruin riders days i decided to stay with old faithful. I'm not expecting a nytro to feel as light as a sled that is 200 lbs lighter but do people notice the weight difference?

Also wondering what the sled is worth in your eyes. From what i have seen it is on par. In the deal a cover, seat bag and the handguard muffs are included.

Thanks, Ryan

gonna have better suspension than your viper for sure, rider forward is different but you will get used to it, biggest thing about 4 strokes is the engine breaking and the power curve, engine breaking feels like your slides are sticking, will get used to it and probably like it, torque is simply amazing especially on this sled, hope this helps a little

well I have 340 miles on my nytro this entire season since i bought it used. Rode back to back with my dads viper (modded). This was my first experience on a 4stroke this season when a purchased it. I think it is a very fun sled with a wide torque band that rails up to 85 mph on trails. Hand warmers suck Period, i rode in some days with highs around 14F and my fingers were not getting any heat. YAMAHeater is a must !! have not purchased mine yet. I think if you are a real speed freak or enjoy always having more power at your finger tips the apex would be better suited for you. The viper never fails to put a smile on my face, the motor is incredible. The nytro 4stroke experience is very quiet, smooth, nothing like a vibrating 2cycle . I think the stock exhaust like the viper is amazing. Makes you want to grab a handful. The nytro is very different from a viper in terms of handling, more body english is needed, and you get more feedback from the bars in terms of feeling the terrain. I like the sled and it is well built, you do get ice build up in the tunnel. I got a nice sled but if i would do it over again a apex is for me. i strictly trail ride. I think if you are a more traditional rider the apex would soot you better. If you have never ridden a rider forward sled you need to ride the nytro first. Nytro is a very cold sled in terms of wind protection to compared with traditional sleds.
hope this helps.

They have taller windshields and side deflector kit to keep wind off. I've never seen them on just in book , been thinking about putting them on my sled to help with the wind

2 stroke to 4 stroke

I originally had a Viper, then upgraded to a Apex GT, then to a Nytro RTX SE. You will love the Nytro! there is no engine breaking on the Nytro, it coasts like a 2 stroke, this is a huge advantage in my opinion. My Apex GT had engine breaking and I hated it.

Yes, it freecoasts like a 2 smoke

The handwarmers being cold I'm used to, been battling that problem on my viper for a couple years now (needs a stator). The engine breaking feeling I wont mind either as I have a roller secondary in my viper and it backshifts pretty quick. I will miss the sound of it but i plan to hang on to it, it has been a great sled.

Any ideas on price? I know you are all from south of the border but can someone ball park it?

$5500.00 would be a steal, it's hard to put a value of the extras, the sled would be worth $6500.00- $7000.00 this year as sleds seem to be high up here.. $6500.00 would go a lot further south of the border but can be a pain. O and a Nytro comes with the best support plan on the planet, TY!!!!

I have two of them. My son rides one and I ride the other. I would not give them up for anything. I love my Nytro. One of the funnest sleds I have ever ridden. The only thing I looking at doing is stretchng one of them to 136.

The 136" is a great upgrade...
