I raced my buddy's 04 800HO renegade last weekend and I was very surprised with the results. Up to about 100km/h I stayed ahead of him by about 3-4 lengths, after that he was eating nothing but snow dust! There was a bit of snow on the lake but the machines were hooking up good (both stock machines no studs and we were both lifting our skis on launch) I gave him plenty of time to catch up (I figured he would catch me on top end) when I looked back he was about 10-12 lengths behind me. Is his sled working right or are those 800's just that slow?! (after telling me how fast his sled was he was a bit embarrased but I didn't rub it in that much I just let the race do the talking

Yep, thats about right.... The XTX is a fast sled... The other thing to remember here is that your motor will always run its true capable hp. The 2004 800HO motor had ring issues and would never pull their in tended 135hp after 2000miles or so. Especially once the motor got heat soaked. Also the gearing is lower on the gade, then the xtx. He was stupid or naive to think he could beat you. A shorty may have given you a better run on top end. The are geared about 2-3 gears higher over that year of gade.
