09 prices canada

It is not the Canadian prices it is the U.S. prices that are out of whack as they have never incvreased to offset the huge drop in the U.S. dollar value. Surprised the other manufacturers have not filed dumping charges against Yamaha as they are probably breaking even at best on sleds sold in the U.S.

Just talked to dealer about 2009 XTX. He hasn't finalized pricing yet but they should be low $11's with the 3 year warranty, 1st service labour and a limited edition fleece jacket. He said Yamaha Canada didn't lower Canadian retail as it is easier to adjust pricing with programs. At $11,299 the deal is $2000 off retail. USA retail is $10,599 but they will have deals also - it is closer than I thought though and with the full 3 year warranty and a good servicing dealer it should be ok.

Just did some quick math for us Canadians.
Based on the MSRP for the 2009 Nytro SE including all " spring incentives" we end up paying $2,100 more here in Canada and lose a year warrenty.
US = $11,299 - $600.00 for parts = $10,699 and a 4 year warrenty
CDN = $14,099 - $1200.00 (discount) and $100.00 off a service = $12,799 and you only get 3 years warrenty.
Oh ya you get a fleece jacket here in Canada....$2100.00 for a jacket...better be a hell of a nice jacket.

Buy in Canada...Prove your a sucker!!!!

Buying in CANADA helps support your CANADIAN DEALERSHIP.

Yes we do pay more and it's unfair right now, but if everyone continues to buy south of the border you could see CDN Dealerships in big trouble. I'm in no hurry to have to go south to buy a sled, sit down and work out a better price with your CDN Dealership. This will be the same one you might need one day to fix something, and don't Bitch when you buy a USA sled and have to go there to get Warranty or Repairs done.

Well I am buying either a XTC, 2 up venture or the Cat touring Jaguar. Jaguar is a first year sled with the turbo and the two Yammies are both proven with new components. The only other thing to consider is warranty and price. Yamaha is going to have to get it closer than $2100 a jacket and one less year warranty to get my money. Larry it is up to Yamaha Canada's head office to save their dealers not us. If Yamaha Canada looses some of its dealers it is shooting itself in the foot.

The $600 in US accessories has a cash value of about $300.
The fleese jacket has a cash value of about $65 and the extra year of warranty has a cash value of about $125

US....$11,299 minus $300 minus $125.........$10,874
CDN 14099 minus 1300 minus 65................$12,734

The diff is more like $1860 if you boil it down to just the sled.

Tork, I was told by a dealer here in Canada you only get a $1200 rebate on the Nytros, and if I need to buy an extra year warrenty to bring it up to 4 years whats the cost to me?? So is if fair to say we are back close to or above the $2000.00 mark up????? FOR THE SAME SLED!!!!!

I think if you go cash value it is $1860 ( the 1200 you mention + the 100 on service)

But I agree cash value does not work exactly the same say you are buying another year of warranty, you might pay retail which is more than cash value. Not trying to prove my number is THE number, just trying to get as close to an apples to apples comparison as possible. The 600 here an extra year there, bit of a shell game LOL just trying to boil it down to actual sled costs.

I Can't anwer for Yamaha Canada Rod, as to what plans they have for their CDN Dealerships.....BUT...I see that they continue to offer more insentives and rebates to CDN buyers. I'd rather see money off the top which also means less tax dollars to shell out.

Like you know there are some Great CDN Dealerships out there and some NOT So Great CDN Dealerships out there. I'm VERY HAPPY dealing with mine, and will continue to support it as they are stuck in the middle of all this and my Loyalty lies with them. As these sleds are made abroad and the real issue is with YAMAHA / YAMAHA CANADA, there must be lots going on behind the scenes that we will never know about. I see they put Gag Orders on all their rep's, and others have NO COMMENT answers on certain Questions regarding Dollars or Changes which is what I expected anyways.

Larry I agree with what you say mostly! I too would like to keep my dollars in Canada and supporting my dealer but only to a point. By that I mean I am willing to spend $500 to $750 max more in an apples to apples value to the USA sleds. This is to cover our taxes which I believe is more and the shipping it must be more here also but not by much.

Rod I think You have to treat it like any other business decision. If the US dealer is say 300 miles away, the round trip is prolly $200 for most guys rigs. The gamble is warranty, got to trailer it back across if something major happens.
You come to an accurate bottom line figuring in everything and make the best decision for you and your family.

I live at the Illinois Wisconsin border. No tax on groceries in WI. In Illinois no tax on books. If you buy a big ticket item, sales tax is about 5.5% in WI in IL it is about 7.75
So guess where we buy what?
Basically I am doing the same thing some of you guys are.
