Anyone out there running or had personal experience with a 1.5" Intense. I'm starting to realize how rough the 121 Ripsaw is in snow... useless. I already have my wife sold on studs, but for the same price I can get a 1.5 intense. Looking for opinions.
Or would a new set of skis help in the snow department?

I have the 1.5" intense track on my sled for at least three years. It has better loose snow traction but judging by side by side drag racing results the rip saw has better hard packed snow traction. I can't beat people as easily as I used to when I had the rip saw on. If your thinking about studs I am guessing your looking for better hard packed snow traction . my opinion is that studs will do much better on hard trails but will do nothing on deep or loose snow. hope this helps

I know the ripsaw works on hardpack, and when the groomers get out I'm confident I'll appreciate the ripsaw a little more.
I'll very likely stick with studding. I was just frustrated, I got that pig stuck twice today... HEAVY!! I went for another ride tonight though. My buddy on his 2010 Renegade 800R got stuck, I made it through. I realize what I was doing wrong now.
- crawling up ditches in plowed snow...

- reving at 11 grand in powder...

In the past week, we've had so much snow that the snowbanks beside my driveway are higher than they were in January last year!!

If it keeps up, I may just consider the Intense. Riding in snow is fun, but I'm going to be sore tomorrow. I'll be investing in shirts made of synthetic materials for sure, my cotton t-shirt was SOAKED after my ride this evening.
