Just thought i'd throw a post out about these two tracks. i've run a Hacksaw before with studs and it was a great track. Would there be any benifit of running one of these on an Apex that is trail riddin over the Ripsaw? I know you may loose some traction on loose snow but the lower lug height will allow more room for studs too with out any hitting. I see some guys run this setup, just looking for some input. Thanks

IF youre looking for more top end....you want the predator 1 inch open window ....the hacksaw is nice but much softer, similar durometer as the ripsaw...
just depends exactly why your priority is.

I'm still not convinced of that. Knock out the third window on a Hacksaw to help reduce drag from the tird window and it is also 6lbs lighter than your track..... I still think it should be faster. Way less rotating mass. Yet I have not done the testing, to prove my assumption, but 6lbs is alot to overcome.machzed said:IF youre looking for more top end....you want the predator 1 inch open window ....the hacksaw is nice but much softer, similar durometer as the ripsaw...

Over on Doo Talk Cudney Racing did a test with a Mach Z with a Hacksaw vs a Ripsaw and the Hacksaw was 4 to 5 mph faster on top end than the Ripsaw - now the Predator is only 1 lb heavier than the Hacksaw so I would think they would perform about the same - the Predator was not included in his test - I've been told many times that the Predator hooks as well as the Ripsaw (some say better) on snow - I've heard simular things about the Hacksaw - if I were to get a new Apex I would go with either the Hacksaw or the Predator with 144 studs down the middle - just my 2 cents!

Guys,
I spent many hours on calls with camoplast engineer...these guys know their stuff, and what WE sledheads want...
One of the biggest factors in TOP END is DUROMETER of the rubber....sure weight means alot, however its not EVERYTHING when radaring...proof of that is when a guy radars well with more studs(weight) then some less studded boys with less weight.
IF you read my post more carefully, you would see i said "open window" predator.....which does NOT mean fully clipped necessarily.
camo is making alot of newer designs...and I think they realize more then ever that OPEN WINDOW tracks are better overal....so they have come out with some newer designs with all windows open minus the clips...so you save even more weight!
I hacksaw is a nice track, for trails hardpack....but if you ask camo engineer,he will tell you it will NOT be as fast as a predator....period.
I assume the engineers of these tracks know alot more then you and I.
I have considered removing every third clip on my fully clipped predator, and save that lb or 2.
6 lbs is way off...

im gonna run my 03rx1 track this year"finger style",it is 5 lbs lighter according to tracks usa website,i think this track will be faster for sure, then when i cut out the windows it shouldnt heat up sliders,i put the slp buttons on my ripsaw and never had slider problems but i wanna try removing the windows instead to save weight

IMO, that finger track was terrible. Maybe ok for radar but not a good overall track.
