I have a 2005 holdover Rage that I picked up before Christmas. I read a fourm on here about some having 100% antifreeze in them from the factory. I checked mine today and it pegged the needle at -50 deg F. I am wondering what the best way to get this changed to 60/40 mix? Am I going to have to drain the whole system and start over or can you drain some of it and get it right? Also, if I have to drain some where is there a drain plug, or do you just unhook a hose somewhere. I am sure it says all of this in a service manual, but I don't not have one of those yet.

Thanks to all in advance.

What I did was use the tester to suck out the resevoir dry take out as much as you can. Fill with distilled water. Start up and let it circ and mix then recheck empty some more out and fill again with water. Just make sure you get a good mix before checking again. Go for a run with it would be best. I think I had to empty my resevoir twice. Keep what you take out in a good container in case you need some down the road. Keep doing this until you are getting a reading between -40 and -35 that is more than enough.

A 60/40 mix will read -62 degrees , so how do you know that this is 100 percent.

Don't for sure since my guage won't go that high, but it sure looked like it was 100%. Looked very dark and thicker. Plus I think I want to run it down around -45 to -50 mark. Get a little better heat transfer out of it that way.

I am also looking into better heat transfer check this product out http://autorepair.about.com/gi/dynamic/ ... max.com%2F

Sounds interesting.....I don't really like putting addatives in the cooling systems. I have seen addatives screw up cooling systems and also seen some tranny addatives gum up transmissions as well. Might be an ok product though, would need to look into it some more.
