Im a newbie to 4-strokes. Is there a coolant drain plug on the engine to drain the coolant out of it?? On my SRX theres a bolt on the water pump you remove to drain the antifreeze out. Or should I just pull a cooler hose off and drain it???

My antifreeze mixture is waay too strong. I need to dilute it down some.

Thanks.

I just suck some out of the overflow bottle with a turkey baster. Much better contained that attempting a drain.

The only drain plug that I know of is on the rear end to allow air belading. To drain engine, Tech Manual has you removing the lower hose on engine and catching with a pan.

Coolant is good for hyfax :tg:

Just take the bolt out of the rear of the sled and jack up the front end. Remove the cap and let it drain. If you want to remove all the coolant take the low hose of the motor.

I drain from the pto side lower hose. Sled is empty in a hurry. Just have to remove the lower panel and belt, no mess that way.

If your wife is bigger than you, or she just plain old won't give up the turkey baster, go to the drug store and get a big syringe for about 2 dollars. It has two plastic ends to which you can attach anything from windshield washer hose to something thin like the plastic insulation from a piece of 14/2 wire, after you pull the wire out. That way you can go deep into the coolant reservoir, or enter the tiny hole in the crossover pipe of the rear heat exchanger to extract or fill antifreeze, depending on whatever you are doing.

I just changed out mine on the same sled. Manual says remove lower drain hose (by oil tank) then lift rear of sled. Disconnect each hose from the rear heat exchangers (under exhaust covers) lift front of sled and all should be drained. Like the other guys have said, there is a drain plug in between those rear heat exchangers that the manual says is the bleed port. You can get maintenance manual CD's off ebay, you should get one if your going to work on the fourstroke...
