I know there must be a post out there on this topic but I am not able to find it. I have an 05 and 06 RS Rage that I would like to change the oil on the drive chain. I pulled the side cover off the sled and was unable to find any sort of drain plug. Being that it has a magnesium cover I assume there isn't a drain plug and in order to change the oil you need to pull the whole cover off? Seems a bit extreme for something you should do every season. Has anyone done this and if they have do you need to replace the gasket before placing the cover back on?

Your drain plug is on backside of case.If you look up in your tunnel area by chaincase you will see a 12mm bolt head.Thats all you need to do to change your chaincase oil.No need to replace chaincase cover gasket.Hope info helps.

Yep
If you add a little to much oil in the chain case, what kind of harm would it do?

It will puke out making a mess under there, no more than 8oz's req'd.
Lots of peeps on here run the same amount with or without reverse with no problems.
