Myself, my son, and a friend with a new Apex rode a little over 100 miles today on Tug Hill. I got to ride my friends Apex for a while. It was colder riding then on my 2005 RX-1, but had a little better punch low and mid range. Quit a few sleds were riding the hill today. We stopped and talked to a couple of Conservation Officers for awhile. They said they are having trouble with hunters riding around in their 4X4 trucks and shooting deer from their trucks which is illegal. About 16-22" of snow on the hill, but it will settle fast. Pretty good first ride though!

Quit writing these posts and get back to WORK! Goverment employee for you - writing about snowmobiling on our dime!

I agree! With naps and posts, are our sky's safe? I would hate to be flying over Utica with people on the ground posting about their snowmobiling experiences. After hearing you were riding this weekend with all of the snow, I almost jumped in the truck and drove out to get my sled to ride. Christmas is coming soon enough.

It's also illegal to ride the Snowmobile Trails until after hunting season closes !BIG BLACK WARRIOR said:Myself, my son, and a friend with a new Apex rode a little over 100 miles today on Tug Hill. Ole Timer - This is not true on the main trails which are public roads. Perhaps in the hunting clubs, but not the majority of trails. We met two nice DEC officiers while riding and they said nothing, so don't exactly think it is illegal. There is enough room to be shared by both the hunters and snowmobilers.

I'm not suggesting every where is closed................only designated snowmobile trails. This early season usually gets some people killed by riding roads and running into cars/trucks. Please be safe and carefull.............we don't need anyone hurt or any private land closed before season starts.rx-1erlimitededition said:Ole Timer - This is not true on the main trails which are public roads. Storm-Chaser, I'm glad you stayed home. Unless you know the trails on Tug Hill you probably would get in trouble. Big Black Warrior lives next to the trails and knows the hill better than anyone I've ever met. This is the reason he is always our leader during the TY rides. I'm sure he knew exactly what roads to ride and what trails not to ride to keep it all legal. So as tempting as it is when we get these early snow falls, it's best to keep the sled on the trailer and wait for the real season to go riding. Come join us for our ride in February and you'll see what I mean. We have a great group of TY riders and Gordon is a GREAT leader.
