11 Vector LTX Slide/Hifax Wear Question

I got 1900 miles out of my set. That was in pretty good conditions last years, but we did ride several hundred miles on the lakes up north. That said this year I got the new DuPont slides from Yamaha. Last week we rode in UP about 350 miles. There was a long stretch on a road. My hi fax seemed fine with no noticeable wear. The person behind me did not smell any hot plastic. The people behind him did. So I think the new ones work well! At least better than others behind me.

If your sled is a new 2011 I would run what you've got this year and replace them before next season.

get the slide in a window on the track and put the sled in reverse and they slide right off

I've never heard this one! Just making sure I understand; Drive the hyfax to the rear until it hooks in a track window, put the sled in reverse and let the track peel the hyfax off the rail?

Slide/pound it out so there's 2-3" exposed out a window.

Thanks. I thought I knew all the tricks. I have to say, there is a wealth of info on this site.

I do not even push the slide back at all. I put a flat screw driver between the slide and rail at the back end, bend it down (pulling it off of the rail)until the slide can be pushed through a window. Then reverse and it is off.
