11 XTX or std APEX cant decide.

Interested in buying a 2011 Apex std or xtx. Cant decide which model. I am 5-11 215lbs, semi aggressive ,trail rider in the UP and maybe Wi. I have not rode the 11's or a longtrack sled ever. No intentions of ever studding the track. Rode 121's in past. Anyone know where you can demo both models now?

128 track : (Aggressive Racer)groomed trail machine with great cornering/handling ability. Supposed to corner better than xtx. On a 200 mile days just how long can you ride so aggressive? Is it a race?

XTX (Cruiser)I like the idea of bump bridging (maybe more comfortable ride) bumps but unsure of the sacrifice in the corners. I see traction on a grommed trail being equal. I doubt the xtx tipped rail will function like Yamaha states to corner like a 121.Better traction in the deep snow.

I have had 2 Nytro XTX's and now added the Apex XTX and would never look at a short track again. The last one being my 9th 4-stroke. Have had all the track length's and have always like the longer tracks. I rode all the new "11" Sleds at the dealer intro. and liked the 144 much better than the 128. The 144 got around the corners better and had a much better bite. All the 128 wanted to do was spin. Just my 2-cents, have a great winter

You have asked this same question so many times I don't know what you want to hear. Go test them out at a dealer. Try the Vector GT LTX because you might like that better than both of them for the price and ride.

Once again my vote is the XTX because it is going to handle just as good as a 128".

The short tracks do offer better flickability in the tight twisties but in your typical riding area, with the exception of a few trails, the straighter trails out your way are probably better suited for the XTX. The loss of flickability in the tight twisties with an XTX is barely noticeable. The long tracks don't twitch back & forth on the straightaways & they do bridge bumps better than shorties. Having ridden them all, I recommend the longer track & probably won't ever go back to a shortie.
I'll catch heck for this but try a Doo 4-Tec Renegade. The quality is not as good as Yam & the X Package shocks are a must but the sled may offer the ride & handling you're looking for.
Ride before you buy.

Absolutely go the XTX. Especially if you don't intend to stud. Its a no brainer if you are going to be riding in the UP. The 128" has nothing on the 144".

Flicikability? Please, there is 9 lbs difference between them. Think you can throw around a 690 pound sled better than a 700 sled? I can't even throw around my 590 pound Ski-Doo!

I have not had a short track since 2003. My first long track experience was the 04 Yamaha Warrior. Every time I ride short track, I wonder why anyone would want one given the choice of the longer track crossovers. Ride quality and straight line stability alone is worth it, even if you never venture off into the deeper snow.

XTX or not

I was fortunate enough to ride the new models at the Cascade demo ride this spring in Portage, Wi. Rode them all and the Yamaha reps let us actually ride 'em (a little) without keeping us single file , 20 mph. Hung a few corners, hammered the throttle some and got a little air too! My expectation was to like the Apex SE best with the Mega Float.... WRONG! I was blown away by the XTX. Hit bumps better and handled very well with the power steering (EPS).
Like all that preceeded this MY, too much ski lift during hard cornering but I fixed my Apex RTX with a 13mm sway bar and would immediately do the same if I bought the XTX. Prior to riding the new sleds I was considering "doing the Doo" for my next sled but the XTX may have changed my mind!

I agree XTX I will never own another short track. I rode both at the demo ride and all the 128" did was spin. I converted my rtx from 121" to 144" and after one ride I will never go back. I will say the new sleds are amazing and I will own one soon. Good luck

Completely agree. 121's turn better. IMHO if you rail corners at a fair rate of speed, there is not much difference with a longer track. Especially with the tipped up rails. Let's face it, the corners change all day long on every trail, every trip! We all adjust our cornering with how our sleds handle and the current conditions. The real question is what your body says after a 300 mi day. My number one regret of buying my sled is not getting the longer track. When my body aches, I switch with my brother and ride his 136"
