The plug is only hot when the machine is started. My Garmin 60cs and my legend have a feature when the 12v/Sled is turned off the GPS gives you 20 or 30 seconds to press any key to continue running on battery power. Then when the machine is re-started it automatically goes to the 12v again. So on and so on. I always try to have new batteries in the GPS just for that reason.

I have mine set so it comes on atomatically when it gets auxillary power so I knew right away it was working.

When I plug my GPS into my car it is setup to come on when the car power is on. When the car is turned off the gps will give you 30 seconds after you loose aux power to keep it running on internal power. Otherwise it shuts itself off and won't come on until you introduce aux power again. So I just unplugged it from the car, plugged it into the aux power recpt. on the GT, started it up and the GPS was powered up! If yours doesn't do this go to the set up menu for options.mnmsnowbeast said:flyingpig said:I"ve tried mine with my garmin and it worked fine![/quoteHey pig i pluged in my garmin etrex legend with its own garmin 12 volt cig. plug that attaches to the top of the gps and turned it on,but how do i know its not just the batteries power that is powering it.]![]()

The fuses are on the right side of the sled looking forward just back from the thermastat houseing. Test the outlet for voltage with a multi meter. If the fuse looks good try a diffarant one just in case, also test the plug where the outlet plugs in with a multi meter , see if you have voltage at the fuse box for this fuse. You will need to remove the fuse to get to the hot side.

Did you try the shield again. Mine blew first time out
and I keep reading posts about blown fuses when hooking
shield to acc. socket.

Its my understanding the accessory socket is for low amperage devices and is protected with a 2 or 3 amp fuse, electric shields should have their own jack to plug into.
