Going to get started very soon on my sled for the coming winter. 08 fx with Oft rail extensions 1.75x144" outback track. Now here's the question My track always ratcheted unless super tight what drivers and size would i need to cure this? Would i have to alter my drive gearing because of the extra track length? Which clutch kit would beneift these changes and my last question how can i alter the aproach angle on my track so it will float more than just trench!!!!!
I already have the mountain heat exchanger as i have on many occasions suffered over overheating issues! Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You can use Avid or Wahl bros drivers, 2.52 pitch. Stock is 9 tooth, which fit on your sled without any modifications to the rail tips.
I recommend the Avid drivers, they are extremely tough, and don't wear nearly as fast as the wahl drivers. My brother and buddy bought wahl drivers and they both had significant wear while my avids still looked almost new. Wahl drivers are much cheaper $$$ wise tho. I think something like 150 or 180 bucks vs the $265 I paid for Avids.
You could go down to 8 tooth drivers. Which would be like dropping 2 teeth in the chaincase approximately from what I've been told. But that will probably screw your approach angle up even more for deep snow riding. To help with trenching you should probably stick with 9 tooth, and just suck up your front limiter strap, to get a less steep approach angle.
You'll get a lot of different opinions on gearing and clutching, but if I was doing it, and planning on keeping the sled for a long time, I'd drop 1 tooth on top, and go 1 tooth larger on the bottom. So I could keep running the stock chain without having a really nasty dog leg in it, which would be more efficient. It should be like dropping 1.5 gears I think. You can drop 2 gears on the top gear and still run the stock chain, I did it when I went out west. But it leaves a pretty nasty dog leg in the chain.

The best way to get a great attack angle is to move the skid back like (making your skid a 136" and moving it back 4", this would put you at angle of 18* or so.) Will still give you a great trail sled and a super off trail sled. It would pull more mass back on the sled even out the sled.

I have a 19t top gear in mine and it works well. I know some guys have run a 20 with success as well.
I picked up a drive shaft from Ulmer Racing with the 9t extros already mounted on it. I believe Allan charges around $300 for those. Either way I would run extros for sure.
