- 2013 Yamaha Nytro XTX 1.75
So, i'm sure most of you are aware of the motorcycle exhausts called "Danmoto". They are very cheap, (120$ shipped) and are actually really good. I've had it on my ZX9r for 23,000 KM so far with 0 issues, didn't even need to repack. Had a small fitment issue, but nothing that can't be resolved.
None the less, i'm the type of guy whos really cheap, so I didn't want to spend 400$ on a muffler. So, I took the chance and bought a Danmoto pipe. (originally the pipe I bought was made for a FZ1000) and it came in 1 week later form China. First think I noticed here was the pipe diameter was 2.5" and the Nytro's header diameter is 1.75". All I did was buy an adapter from Canadian tire for 6$ and welded it on (it's a steel pipe) the Danmoto pipe for no leaks, and installed it. I used a normal car clamp to hold it down and it didn't leak at all. Surprisingly, the thing is actually real sturdy as long as you clamp the end of the pipe where the original pipe sits.
Downside really is you can't put the plastic where the original muffler exited from, but for me that's just another reason to play around with it.
Sled started right up, sounded like a monster, no leaks nor check engine lights came on.
I just wanted to share my experience for anybody whom even thought of this and/or are just as cheap as me! Took longer to take the sled apart then installing the whole thing (excluding welding).
PROS :
- Really cheap
- Will last you the lifetime of your sled if you do it right
- Curves at the end so you can fit a gas tank
- Lightweight
CONS :
- Looks weird
- Welding recommended
- Can't use original back piece
- Needs a 6$ adapter
Thanks hope this was useful in any way
