Hey guys I know i put up my post about studs and i decided to do the 144. I was originally going to do megabites but a friend of mine has alot of guys into sledding and since they start making the Roetin Hornets again they roccomended them all over the Megabites so i went with those.
I was given the 1340's which they said is the right number for the 1.25" ripsaw track. I was told the stud was just measured different thats all so i didnt give it a second though. I looked at these Roetin Studs online and they claim 3/8" penetration abover the paddle!!!!! This is the first time I have studded a sled and im really nervous now. The 1.325 megabites were only .075" of an inch penetration.
The problem is now im worried i just wasted all this money on these studs and im goint o rip a whole through my exhaust because they are too long.
I noticed the tunnel protectors on our sleds are alluminum so i dont know how you would add to them. I'm also not sure about the front heat exchanger.
If anyone can help me out I'd appreciate it. I'm pretty pissed now if i got screwed cuz i supposively was supposed to be dealin with some pretty knowledgeable guys but id rather take my loss ont he studs now than cuase damage.
Thanks.
Mike

No issues here, my bro in law ran larger studs last year without issues. I have the 1340's in now which were installed by my dealer and they said no problems with them either. I can take some pics of the roetins installed in mine and measure them tonight. I did replace the factory spring with a heavier one and so did he.

ok, so why is an Apex post moved out of the Apex forum?
Does it stay up top in the Apex forum as long as there are replies to it over here? Or will it dissapear.
I wouldn't think to look anywhere else for APEX related material.....
apex stuff in that is NOT in the apex forum has a very limited audience...

I have them in mine and they are fine. They will barely nick the cross member in the back. No issues.

Are you running any suspension upgrades like the big boy spring?
Also if i was going to go about adding a little more to the tunnel proectors how would i do it. Do they sell a kit or do i need to weld onto teh exisiting alluminum?

I have 144 1.325 gold diggers and after racing on the lake at St Zenon last weekend I really wish I had gone with longer studs, I feel like I wasted my $$. They are fine for trail riding though.

I got mine through a recommendation. The guys that recommended these have been big time into the grass drag circuit and racing for years. Some of you mighta heard of them Bickford Racing.
A friend of mine hooked up with them last winter and has been havign alot of work done. They recommended these Roetin studs over the woody's any day saying they were stronger and more ligthweight. Roetin even sells a super lightweight backer. So i went with them.
Like i said they gave me these saying they were the right size for a 1.25" ripsaw so i took it on face value. Just making sure I'm not going to damage my sled. They are brand new installed and never ridden on so I can at least pull em and sell them if need be, add more tunnel protection of a bigger spring. I don't mind doing any of the three but its Obviously better to know now than later. As it is no one has any snow right now anyway.

For backers I use fastrac plastic backers.

Because it is a Studding post. There is still a shadow in the apex forum that redirects you here. We are just trying to keep the site as clean as possible and as always, you will get varied opinions as to how we should go about it. There were no replies to his post, now there are several, so the shadows do work...BBY

ok BBY, I understand...but this particular post was started at 1 am in the morning...the first reply at 6 am, followed by 10 am....hardly unusual IMO. I wouldn't expect a cavalcade of replies at 1 am.....

The point is regardless when the thread was posted, it was in the wrong section. You mentioned that you never check outside the apex forum for apex information, I moved this thread before you posted, how did you find it? Its hard to keep everyone happy, sorry for any inconvenience...BBY

I understand BBy. I found it by clicking on the MOVED thread in the APEX forum!!! Because I thought to myself "I wonder where the heck they moved this APEX thread too?"!!
..anyways..TY is a great site regardless...keep up the good work.
Let me ask to the people who replied to this thread...did you find it in the APEX forum? or this stud forum?

Let me expand on this just a bit. What we try to do is make several forums to choose from. Turbo, Nitrous, Suspensions, rides...etc. This is the best way to keep the site clean. Moving a stud question regarding the apex is no different than moving a Apex turbo question the the Turbo section. We try to avoid redundant posts, and by having as many sections as we do, it alleviates multiple posts on same subject matter. Now the next time someone new to the site has the same question as the original poster did, wouldnt it make sense to click on the Skis, Studs, and Aftermarket Suspensions category?
Heres another one. http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=36606
Basically the same subject matter. I think what we need to do is make a sticky here in this forum answering Robs (AIRWOLF) question. This would alleviate repetitve posts.
I totally understand where you are coming from 87, and Its hard to try and determine if a post should be left alone or moved. Prime example is today. 2 posts, very similar. They can be addressed in the same post. To me it makes the most sense to have FAQs about the same subject to be located in that specfic forum.
Would you guys prefer this post be a sticky? Or combine the 2? Looking for you input. Thanks...BBY
