1. '06 Apex -twin screw
2. '04 Redline Revolt 800
3. '09 Nytro XTX - twin screw
I was hoping for some totally new iron for '09, but since there weren't big enough changes for me to order, I'm going to continue tweaking my existing existing sleds with suspension and track changes.

1. Who's kits are the favorites?
2. I like the tip-up style of the XTX, and wondering if a 144 with tip ups would be the right way to go, I just don't think there would be enough of an advantage to a 136 over a stock 121.
3. Deeper lug track (1 3/4) or stay with short lugs and add studs??

So let me have it - whats the ideal set up???

depends on your riding style..when I trail ride in ontario..like to drag race my buddies..on a hard packed road..thats what I clutch for..144 angled woodies down middle belt ..was thinking of 136 hacksaw.1" studded which with torque of the nytro would launch 2 or 3 lengths on just about anything..to 1000 feet or 100 mph which the nytro is good for..but have started to consider 1.25 track for the super pull on trail..and still have holeshot on packed road ..136ed my modded 700 sx years ago and it didnt affect handling..for off trail and mountain riding have mtx nytro...

Im not really wondering about studs, which is what Im guessing your post was about.
Im looking at converting my 121" track to a 136" or a 144".
I really enjoyed playing in the deeper stuff, and after watching my buddy Nick's Renegade go through some seriously deep stuff that my sled wouldn't even touch, I think it would make my sleds more versatile. Even if it's just playing on snow drifts. I don't have the top speed "need" much anymore, but as long as they'll hit 100mph very quickly, I'm fine with that.
My question is weather or not a 144 with 1 3/4 paddle is too much, or do you guys have good luck with a 136 in the deeper stuff?

Id go with 144" on the Nytro if you like playing in the deep stuff alot. The 136 really isnt that big of a diff from a 121 in the deep... A 1,75" shouldnt be a problem. Less isnt eaven worth it if you go alot off trail... .

The up dosen't have too much deep stuff.Nate i would go 136" if you go to big then it's no fun.Even out west I had more more fun on my custom lightweight 136" vector then my apex mtn.
Remember the longer you go the less mph your going to have to because of the track weight.

nate

i would go with 136 kit anything bigger you probably wont like the way it handles in the corners. it took me 2 to 3 trips to get my 136 dialed in. the only thing i found is that you get a little more guts off trail and let me tell ya you can get stuck Holy Crap

Also check out www.ulmerracing.com there are pics on there. Pro116 is correct on the mph i lost 7 to 10 mph on the dream meter. i also have elevation to contend with in the black hills

I just rode the XTX in W Yellowstone yesterday along with checking out the new 09's. If you get a chance, you got to ride this. All the reviews are correct and you don't even know its a 144. This setup rocks!!

Im not too concerned with the top speed loss, as I don't do much racing (except holeshots with the guys across open fields). I've really gotten into the off trail playing around, but don't want to kill my jumping abilities.

So - - would anybody think that I would notice a big off trail difference over a stock 121 by going to a 1 3/4 136? my main goal is to get stuck less, and feel more confident climing snow drifts, and generally just playing in snow more than 9" deep!

I'm I keep mine I'm going 144" rails from Ulmer. They will build them to match the tip up on the XTX. That and a 1.5 or 1.75" track should make my RTX go where I want. Sound like I'm after the same thing as you nate.

Nate,

Last winter I stretched my apex to a 136. I've 100 times more fun on it since. Better traction, stability, bump capability, and even a little better off trail. I clutched it geared it and have been smoking my cousin on his stock gt in every situation.
This summer I will be going 144 with my Nytro. I feel for off trail ditch banging going 136 wont be long enough for what I like to do. I'm also not concerned with top speed, thats what the apex is for! I like to take the nytro to sand pits, big hills, powerlines, and feilds. I'm going for maximum traction. I'm not shure what components I'm going to use yet, But I'm sure it will include a deeper lug track than the 1.25 on the xtx. I would like to keep the low end grunt of the nytro, so gearing and clutching will also be part of the project. If ya got any ideas let me know!
:4STroke: :rocks:

I like all the qualities of my Nytro and my Apex, but I just want them to go more places. I ride with a 1000 'Gade, and I hate sitting on th eside of the trail and watching him climb huge drifts, and rip through drifted ditches that I have to go around. im too agressive a rider to sit back and watch!
Keep up the opinions - I'd love to hear what everybody thinks!!
