We have finalized our rail stiffener kit. Stiffeners will be a poweder coated steel. The stiffener will be longer than the factory stiffener so it reinforces the the rear pivot arm mounting hole. The kit can be installed with skid still in the sled.
In addition to the stiffeners, the kit will also include a cross shaft and mounting bolts. This shaft will replace the inner idler wheels to add additional strength and prevent flexing. The mono shock II suspensions have a shaft installed behind the rear pivot arm.
The rear idler wheel mounts can then be relocated behind the rail stiffener by simply drilling a new hole in the rail if desired. The mono shock II suspensions actually do not have any idler wheels mounted behind the rear pivot arm so the wheels are not required if you choose not to re install them.
This kit will help prevent good non cracked rails from cracking and in addition it can also be used as a repair kit for a rail that already has a crack at the rear mount hole.
The sell price for the kit will be $155. Just one factory Yamaha aluminum outer stiffener retails for $131!! These kits will fit all 06-09 136 mono shock suspensions used in the Attak, Apex LTX, Rage and Vector LTX.

Good work. Catching the rear arm bolt would also help stop the rails from cracking in that spot like mine did.
Looks like the 121 arm does not have the track guides like the 136 arm does. Do you think that would be a concern?

The 121 arm does not have guides, but it would have the (2) large idler wheels on it to serve as track guides. The shaft with small idlers that mounts in the tunnel would then be removed. The larger wheels would be more beneficial anyway as the bearings would not wear as fast as the small idlers. Installing the 121" rear arm with wheels would yield the same setup as a 121 skid with rail extensions added.

I might be interested as both my Attak rails are cracked and the outside stiffeners are cracked in 1/2.

After giving it some thought I could also modify the 136 arms so they match the 121 arms. I will talk with my father to see how much it would cost to modify a 136 arm and have it powder coated. I can have a few 136 arms modified and in stock and then customers would send me their stock 136 arm as a core.

After some research, and figuring I'm going a different direction with the 136 stiffener kits. I felt that the idea of switching out the rear arm would deter many prospective buyers. My new offering will address all the 136 rail failure issue and be easier and less involved to install. I will be posting information soon.

Will these work on the 121 rails too? My friend's on a mono skid that he put in an SRX never came with the rail stiffeners (maybe early model?).

No these will not work on the 121 rails. If your buddies skid does not have any then it is an 05 skid. Starting in 06 the 121 rails had stiffeners on the mono skid.

Just an update on this project. As mentioned above we have scratched the idea of switch out rear arms.....to much of a hassle. Instead we are are going with a 1/4" steel outer stiffener that matches the oem contour for clearance purposes. Our stiffener is going to be longer to catch the rear arm mounting hole and the idler wheel mount hole.
By using steel versus aluminum it should prevent the outer stiffener from cracking in the thinnest section. By extending the stiffener length in the rear it will help prevent the rail from cracking at the rear pivot hole.
This stiffeners can also serve as a bolt on repair for those that have a cracked rail at the rear mounting hole.
We had a test set made up to verify fit up. Need to tweek a few hole dims and then we will get a batch of them made. Final finish will be a powdercoat.

We are getting another batch of rail savers made up. Silver is std color offering but if anyone wants a custom color we can accommodate that on this order. If anyone is planning to purchase these and wants a custom color let me know.

The 121 rail uses a different stiffener so our updated stiffeners will not work.
