I know this has been talked about before but after another year riding I want to see what tracks people have ran and what they thought of them. I want a track that will be trailable but good off trail also. Thinking any where from the back country, cobra , cross over or another ripsaw but I was hoping to go taller than 1.25. I also wondering what drives you would go with. Apppreciate any input.

Just 1,500 miles on a 1.75" Backcountry - some trail but mostly off or ditches - slide wear really didn't seem that much different than in my past Yammi's with 1.25" tracks. . . .very stiff and rugged lug that has held up very well for what I put it through. . . .no folding, bending or tearing.
Run a marginal snow wheel kit - no scratchers.
The only drawback I've seen thus far is that you certainly don't make any friends with who ever's riding behind you as it throw's almost as much as the competition track on the RMK Assault. . . .not quite as much but close.
If you're mostly trails I would stick to a 1.5" - mostly off trail go to the 1.75" - it really makes the XTX a much more capable backcountry machine

I kept going back and forth between the 1.5 cross over and the 1.75 back country. From what I learned the 1.5 cross over was night and day better than the stock rip saw when off trail. I also learned that the back country was way better than that off trail.
I probably am 60% off trail and 40% trail. I was very worried about that much trail riding with the back country. I really wanted the 1.75 but was going to go with the 1.5 to be safe.
Right before I pulled the trigger I found a post on another forum where 2 friends bought the two mentioned tracks at the same time. They ride similar to what I ride in the UP. On trail they both worked well but off trail the back country smoked the cross over. The back country guy lost one lug in the first 15 minutes but that was it all season.
I talked with the guy who bought the 1.5 and he bought that for the same reason I did, he was worried about 1.75 holding up. He said there was no question that he would get the 1.75 back country if he could do it over.
This was the final piece of info to help me decide.

Sounds good - you'll really like the 1.75" Backcountry - enjoy!!

Thanks, you think I will need to do any clutching or gear changes with the back country. I have an 08 RTX with a 144" kit on the way.
I usually go by the rule of "simpler is better" and "if it ain't broke then why fix it". . . .if it was me I would make the track and skid change wait until there's some fluffy white stuff on the ground and ride it.
If it's lacking somewhere then you know exactly WHAT it's missing and can focus your efforts on those specific area(s).
Who knows - maybe you'll really like it - if not it's easy to fix once you know what needs to be done.
I think alot of people fall into the trap of making a change or mod before you even get a chance to know if you have a problem in the first place.
Just my 2 cents anyway. . .

Just received my Back Country, looks pretty nice. The lugs were beefier than what the pics seem to show.
I was wondering about my clips though, do these look ok? The side on the bottom of the image is dug in instead of a nice edge like the top of the clips.
Is this normal?
