I just purchased a used 144" expert x skid for my 04 warrior. I already have a 15x136x1.75" Challenger track on it, but am looking for better floatation and performance. I do not have anti-ratchet drivers yet, which led to a lot of ratcheting with the 1.75" track. I am planning on the Ripsaw Lite 15x144x1.75 track with the new setup. Therefore, I need anti-ratchet drivers. My question is, what size driver? I would like to stay with 9-tooth so I don't have to change gears, but I also don't want to cut the rail tips or the drivers teeth. Is this possible since I am mounting the skid knowing what size driver is going to be used? If not, what tooth driver and gears would be best?

Also, I have looked at the tech section and found the install instructions (seem pretty straight forward), but I have never installed a new skid before, so any info/tips would be greatly appreciated.

I never changed gears when I went to 8 tooth drivers and I did not notice a difference. The directions for the expert are good.Just follow them and enjoy the transfer.

With the expert you won't need extroverts. Put an expert in my Attak with a 144x1.5 Crossover and it never ratcheted, even SCREAMING in deep powder. The design of the Expert allows more wrap on the drivers than any Yamaha skid. Approach angle is much shallower, thus allowing more wrap. Just my experience with one season on mine ;)!

I will have to replace the drivers anyway, seeing as how the Ripsaw Lite is 2.86 pitch. Also, it will be the 146x15x1.75. My buddy put it on his XTX with extros and loved it. The 136x1.75 Challenger track ratcheted on any hard acceleration, and terrible in deep powder. I am okay with changing the drivers, just want to do it right the first time.

So I won't loose a lot of top end by changing to 8t and not changing the gears? Or, will it be somewhat beneficial seeing as there is much more to move, 144x1.75, vs stock?

The 8 tooth will give you more clearence in the front of your tunnel. With an 1.75 you wont have much in the front for the snow to get out of the way.

I ran an x-pert x in my previous turbo rx-1. Even at big boost i didn,t need anti-ratchet drivers.
