144 Stud Pattern (Which One)

Ok so i was thinking of goign with 96 studs but im not sure if that will be enough. I was thinking of getting the 144 pattern and maybe not drillign every single one out at first. Say maybe run 96 or 102 whatever coems out to be even on the pattern.

I just dont wanna drill 96 up the center and find i really can't add. My question is which pattern do i use. There are 2 Patterns on Woody's one is 144 singles up the center and the other is singles and doubles.

The 144 up the center has studs direct in the center of the track. I head this is a problem for some sleds I can't remember. Maybe due to the rollers? The doubles and singles leaves the center open.

You can take the 144 double & single pattern and put only the double backer=96 studs in the center.

Double backer are light and hard to pull trough the track,good for lake racing.

For trail riding it's recommend 144,so you can ad 48 studs in the center.

If you are aggressive rider like me you can ad 48 studs out side the track to 192... this is what i LIKE!

From all the sleds iv worked on with studs on the outside, almost every single one of them has had a rip through on the outter edges of the track. Id reccomend not studding the outside belts, plus studding the outter belts makes the sled harder to turn.

Go with the singles and doubles, thats a very good pattern.

Thanks for the replies guys. I only want to go up the center thats why I'm going to go with the 144 up the center. I dont want to put the studs on the outside because of the turning issue and like said tear throughs.

Doing the doubles and singles pattern allows like said, I can put in just teh doubles then add singles or do both.

I used the Woodys Double Single 144 center pattern.

Only 40 miles so far, but they hooked well on ice and didn't notice any turning issues and I'm used to riding a non studded track.

You can't stud the center 2" of the track because the track runs very close to the bottom eye of the shock, and the studs will eat the bottom shock eye out very fast!!!! I just pulled my EC monoshock out of my sled today because it is leaking oil (check yours - it's a $1300.00 warranty) and I noticed that the track has worn a flat spot in the lower eye of the shock! I have heard of a roller kit to keep that wear in check, but I don't know if it will work with studs. I'm going to be studding mine this weekend, and I'm going to go with the 144 doubles method.

144 is for the Apex -- does that mean you recommend 162 on my attak. I will not outside stud but want to center stud it for safety & control. Also what advantages are there to the double backers vs all singles. What is the fewest # of studs (talked to a dealer & he said 108 but this seems low based on everything I have been reading on this sight. Thanks

144 up the center using a pattern that was made by my bro in law. Its the only pattern that he and other locals have found out of the hole that doesnt want to pull to the left/right, comes out hard and straight.
