If you like lifting the skis at any speed with no effort at all, you'll like the 146 skid. I have Bill Mohr's Stingray spring in it. 4.5 turns and it pulls the skis at 80mph like nothing. Had to dial it down to 1 turn to get a little control over it. Pretty insane coming from a 137. If this was a trail sled I'd have a 1.35"-1.6" track with a healthy amount of studs. This 1" track and 1.86 triggers is only for one purpose lol.Snowcaine, what are your initial thoughts on this mod?
Specific to the dig on packed snow vs 137"

That's a pretty good deal considering I paid one to $600 just for a rear qs3 shock.

I'm digging' this. Its a very cost effective, attractive package. This 1" track and 1.86 triggers is only for one purpose lol.
Ice age rails alone are $610 (anodized)
I'd really be interested in back to back testing on hard pack vs your test mule in the background. Lol. What hp are you running?

I'll have it this weekend by Dragy hopefully. My 23 SRX is the fastest in my stable. 305 hp (MS17 with header). 1" track. 1.63 triggers. I can walk two lengths in 500 ft on every other 998 in my group, including the 137/146 conversion sled. In the SRX, 24/50 gears, TAPP/STM (11.25) with 46/34 helix, black/lime spring, XS811 belt. SRX smokes the red one in the pic (275hp, 1.25 lug, 192 1.63 triggers) by a bus, and it beats my Cat (305hp, 1.25 lug, 192 1.63 triggers) by 1-2 lengths in 500 ft. SRX top-end across bean field stubble (same field as in pic above) was police radar 116 (speedo 120) for 3-4 seconds WOT.I'm digging' this. Its a very cost effective, attractive package.

BUT, the problem with this comparison is I haven't gotten the 146 sled tied down enough to stay all the way into the throttle off the line. And, I was down ~800 rpm off WOT on the big end. I've never ran a 146 before, so it's a learning curve. I have a few changes going in for the weekend, including shortening the limiter straps, shimming the transfer arm a few mm, pulling weight from the primary, and running the same STM secondary that seems to work well on my other two sleds. We'll see how it goes.

I like it. You clearly put the work into getting your SRX dialed in.
And you got testing buds to play with.
Double bonus.....lol

Yes and no. If your racing shortening up the limiter straps and running the shock on firm setting help a bit. Having suspension set for trail comfort the skis will lift at will but its not an uncontrollable wheelie monster. You can ride aggressive and still keep it planted, just requires a bit different throttling than the 137. We dont have alot of tight and twisty trails here so I love it for this area. Rides great and puts the power down. For someone always having to brake hard and come out of corners hard on the throttle it would be a bit of a handful. Can the transfer be controlled on these skids?

On my 22 xtx le wasn’t happy with the bottoming out as the centre shock was just a standard crap shock. I put in a heavier spring I got off kijji can’t remember if it was a zbros or a stingray it was better but still not what I wanted. And yes it was prone to lifting skis. I put an Elka stage 5 in the centre pos. I’ve only have one 150 mile ride with it and was able to adjust the high and low damping to almost perfect with the qs3 on three and elka low speed about half it launches flat and in control. It just squats and hooks up. High speed is somewhere around 3/4 of the way to max. It transformed the sled to what I wanted on the trail
Flip the qs3 to soft and it want to flip over, lots of fun in the deep
I think I’m going to like this setup
Keep in mind this is with the 1.62 Cobra on cold snow we’ll set up trails with zero picks. Very well could be quite different with a pile of traction products
Limiter strap is in factory position
For my riding style it was a serious upgrade

snowcaine, when you get a chance could post a picture of that sled on the garage floor? Just curious as to how far the rear wheels sit back as compared to a 137.

For the first time ever, I wish my 129 was a 137. It would make that swap much easier!

I have an LTX XTX and an MTX the skid I ordered from country cat will fit in all three if I measured correctly the MTX tunnel is about 3” longer than the XTX. I didn’t measure the LTX it’s Likely a couple shorterFor the first time ever, I wish my 129 was a 137. It would make that swap much easier!
Would the 129 not be the same tunnel as the LTx ??
I know for a fact that tunnel length on the 146 & 154 are the same as a bumper I bought for a 154 fit perfectly
The mount bolts are approximately 31” on my XTX

I am pretty sure the 129 tunnel is shorter.

So…
2 inch offset with 10 inch wheels and 10 tooth 2.52 run a 144 with your 137 coupled suspension
Just another option since you have most there already
Do you have the old skid still?
For sale?
