my sled now weighs about 530ish and the cat rear skid is pretty strong. i ride with a bunch of cats and they have never busted anything other than a shock shaft once. i am not worried in the least about the skid being strong enough! it should work a fair bit better than the stock one that weighed 76 lbs!!!!!!!

Cat skids are lighter and WAY stronger than the stock RX skid. I have used and abused my Cats like you wouldn't believe, and I weigh 250+ lbs., and the only thing I ever did was blow a rear Fox shock. Actually, that was my friend riding it who did that, after holding the throttle pegged on my ZRT-800 coming up about a 100 foot, 50-60 degree slope (it was a wall in a sand pit, snow covered of couse). He launched off the top and flew so high I know he could have cleared a small house. Blew the shock, but the skid handled it without a problem. Thats on a sled close in weight to an RX. And yes, the rider was nuts...but we kept egging him on until he did it. Didn't take much...hes an awesome dirt bike rider, and took to sledding naturally.
I have to laugh at the differences in the way sleds are built for mountains vs. our trails. Those wheels would last about 1/2 mile here before being dented up by ice chunks, stones showing through, etc. I guess you don't have to worry about that though. Awesome looking setup!!!!!!!!!

i wouldn't say that the cat skids are built stronger than yammy!! yammy skids could be put under a tank and still hold up well!!LOL
as for the wheels, we give them some serious abuse riding up on the ungroomed ttrails at 40 mph or more. the trails in the mountains are a long series of stutter bumps about 1.5-3 feet deep and about 6 feet apart!! it like 15 miles of dirt bike whoops! no kidding! but once your up on the hill it is pure heaven!! like your on a cloud of snow!!!AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Beautiful sled! I plan to use my 151 finger track on my RX-1. Will a 05 M7 skid with 8" wheels fit? I can't seem to find a 144" skid. If I did it wouldn't have 8" wheels. The one I'm looking at has Ryde FX shocks on it. Are they adequate? Thanks
