Easy way to check is to undo the torsion springs and set her all the way down see if the tunnel protectors hit the track or not.
You will have to lift the skid up with the rear end lifted off the ground to get the skid to collapse all the way, or you need to let your front end all the way down as well to ensure its at maximum deflection.

Mainly it depends on the type of riding you do.
If its a mix of trail/off trail then the 1.75" is a good option as mentioned by the other TY members.
If you do mostly off trail/mountains then I would go with the 2". To install a 2" track you only have to remove the heat exchanger/tunnel protectors, if the stock 9 tooth driver's are being used.
If the dealer installed 8 tooth drivers on your sled, you could go all the way up to a 2.25" track (with the protectors removed)!

Thanks!
Thanks for all the inputs. I think I'll go with the 1.75 back country!

FYI the BC is available in two different versions.
Backcountry trail single ply 80 durometer. The most common.
Backcountry race 2ply 90 durometer. Which will show up on my doorstep next week

What's the difference?

Durometer is the stiffness of the rubber. That means the 90 duro BC has stiffer lugs than the regular 80 duro.
The 90 duro is 2ply, which is stronger than the regular BC.

Im not sure. I'll weigh them when i change it. Probably wont be before sept/october.
As long as my current track doesnt get worse I'll run it one more month until the season is over.

Im very happy with my 2" challenger. Two seasons on it now and it still looks like new. We ride mostly off trail but, its not a bad track on trail ether. Im no hi speed racing type of guy on trail so really can't tell the difference from the ripsaw to the challenger on trail. But off WOW.. Im never going to own a sled again with less than a 2" track.

Thanks for the input Bamboo. Glad I have 6 more months to decide between the different tracks. Still leaning towards the 1.75" but not for sure yet.

Hi, digging up an old thread here but I’m looking for some help. I bought a 2011 Nytro XTX this year that I have really been enjoying. It needed a new track when I bought it but I negotiated that expense off the purchase price and have been making due with the stock track that has many torn/missing lugs and 5,500 miles on it. I found a Ice Cobra 144 x 1.6” lug for sale by me for a great price. Only has 200 miles but does have 2 lugs ripped off. I’d just Shoe Goo over that area and forget about it. That damage could happen the first time out on a brand new track anyway so I guess I’m okay with it. Track looks perfect otherwise. So would a 1.60” fit without any modification? And would that be too much lug if I’m 95% trail? We have had lots of powder to ride in lately and can feel the need for a deeper lug under me. Lol Thanks for any help!

I have a 1.75 backcountry on my 2009 xtx and the tunnel protectors are removed. I could only guess at the 1.6. But as far as trail riding goes, 95% on trail and with scratchers never had a problem, so I would say a 1.6 would work great!

That’s what I’m wondering? I’m really not so sure I want to remove those or heat exchanger protectors. I live in Midwest and we don’t get big powder. Lots of snow this year though. Maybe 1.6” is too much track?

I was happy with the 1.75 BC track on my old Nytro
