I know this is a 4 stroke forum but I was hoping someone here might be able to help me out. My buddy just bought a 2000 sx-r 600 and as far as I can tell it's stock, I took it for a ride the other day and noticed that it rev's over 9000rpm. I have been told that the 600 triple's over rev in stock form but all it needs to fix it is to remove the inner rivet on the primary weights to a heaveir 4.5 gram rivet from yamaha. Now my question is what is the part number for the 4.5 gram rivet? The yamaha site lists 6 different optional rivets but I don't know which one is which? I would really like to get the rpm's down on his sled at full throttle, I get a very uneasy feeling when I see any two stroke snowmobile engine reaching towards the 10000rpm mark!

Thanks for you help guys

Just back of the secondary spring one position....more if required.

Been covered a gazzilion times on the 2 stroke side. change inner rivet in the primary weight to a 4.5 gram. Now been covered a gazzilion & one. search feature works awesome for this kinda stuff on older sleds.

I am aware that I require a 4.5 gram rivet but I searched the yamaha parts catalogue and it doesn't tell you how many grams the optional rivets weigh. I already searched the 2 stroke forum and was unable to find a part number for the 4.5 gram. If anyone knows what the # is or how I can find it that would be very much appreciated.

Thank you

The 4.5g rivets for my sled are PN. 90261-06033. Not sure if they would be the same or not.
