After 3300 miles on my 1-ton last season my only chief complaints were the body roll and below average rear suspension. I tried every adjustment possible with changing spring tension, weight transfer, and limiter strap length to no avail. After taking into consideration everything people have done on this website and with talking to several aftermarket shops, I decided to go with Maxximum Performance's setup. I will be putting their straight rate springs on the front, using their limiter strap set up and transfer rod settings, and have them revalve the center and rear shocks off of my Viper and install them with their springs as well. I fully trust their opinion due to how well they had my 98 SRX riding with their long travel kit. All this will cost me about $375 since I had the shocks from the Viper. I will post results once the snow flies and we get some bumps in the trails...

I was planning the same thing, but bought a ZR9 Sno Pro left over instead. Depending on which sled goes the Viper or the RX I may end up doing the same thing you did. I know many people that have done the MAxx re valve route and hav eheard nothing but good things about how it rides after, you won't be upset.

I was wanting to upgrade my stock suspension as well and was considering simply upgrading the shocks to Ohlns shocks but they are a little pricey. I'm sure they would be well worth it. I saw that MaxPerf has a Custom Suspension Kit for the RX-1 which consist of the following:
Looking for a better (plush) ride on your RX-1... Maxximum Performance has a custom suspension kit available. The kit includes 2 Kayaba Rear Shocks revalved to rider's weight and riding style. 1 Maxximum Performance Center Spring, plus spacer washer for Rear Shock. Set of "Original" Maxx Perf Quick Rods, 2 Custom RX-1 Ski Springs with Shock Covers. With our Custom Suspension Kit, you will be able to ride the trails more aggressively with a suspension tuned for your riding style.
RX-1CSK Custom Suspension Kit...................$859.00
Now, this is sure a heck of a lot cheaper than the Ohlns and of course may not be as good but I wonder if this would a better upgrade path considering the overall price. The nice thing about it is that it contains their springs and quick rods which I was considering anyways. Another nice thing about this kit is that I could also afford their pipe or the one from Whiteknuckle (depending on which one is better) and still be cheaper than if I had went with the Ohlns.

Boston RX-1, if you were referring to the custom suspension kit I mentioned, Maxxium Performance's website is:

I did this same upgrade for 2 different customers last winter. Both were very happy with the setup.

MXZ9, what specifically did the two customer's notice as an improvement? Not doubting your statement, just looking for more details on what improved because I am also considering the same kit.
RX-1 Liter, you mentioned body roll as well in your first post. Are you expecting the straight rate springs to correct this?

With stock anti-sway bar and links intact, there is allmost no body roll in the front with the straight rate springs.
The rear package just plain rides much better.

Suisse,
I was going to go the 11mm sway bar and longer links route, but after talking to a couple of people that just did the straight rate springs and to Maxximum performance I decided to just go with the springs based on their testamony to eliminate body roll.

Has anyone tried the Yamaha straight-rate springs that were available last year as an "option" to the front suspension? I'm curious if they are the same as the spring Yamaha is using on the 2004's. I do not know how the price compares to MaxxPerf's.
I bought 2 Ohlins for the rear skid this year. Hopefully I won't be disappointed.

MXZ9 and RX-1 Liter:
Thanks for the additional information. Pretty much what I needed to make up my mind. By the way, I did the longer links and sway bar upgrade in March and rode 500 miles in Voyagers National Park. They reduced the inside ski lift some, but not as much as I wanted. I took a Viper out for a spin on the same trails just to make sure I was not being too picky, and the Viper hugged the corners so I know it was the RX-1 setup. Now I will try the straight rate springs.
