Hey guys mostly just a lurker here. Just finished putting on the apex seat, riser and handguards on yesterday and took it out for a short test ride (-35C here!). Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the help this site is awesome! Just a couple of pics of then and now. Looking forward to putting some miles on the new upgrades in the hopefully warmer new year!

Sweet sled. The RX is much more comfortable with those mods. I hear you about the weather, it was -41c here last night. Been -30 to -40 for going on about 5 weeks now. getting to be a bit much

Looks great......serious cold in northern canada right now.
Had to camp out in -45 f to film a tv show. For a week ...... Never again,
Thought we going to freeze to death. Northern ontario has been averaging -10
Again great sled, apex seat is a nice up date ....... How much higher is it compared to stock?

Thanks guys. I never did measure how much higher it is but I would say at least 3 inches. Totally different sled now. Also without this site I never would have figured out that when I put it back together my throttle cable (powermadd extension which is absurdly long was the ultimate problem) was just barley activating TORS and making it run like crap! Guess I should have been more on top of things and ordered the 05 mountain cables like everyone suggested. I just went to our local dealer here and tried to order them the same day I bought the riser and they are about 3 weeks away.

Now just slap a 136" track under that and you are set! Short track RX1's always just looked so strange to me. Big monster sled/engine with a tiny little track under it.

That'll likely have to wait until next year but that's the plan!

yea the 136'' track is what I did , much smoother on the trails and gives the sled and your back a new life , nice job
I have a couple RX1's that my daughters are now riding. I have owned 2 - 03's and an 05. My mods were strictly for handling and ride quality. The Apex seat is a big plus.
I assume u did the longer links and 13mm bar?
On the 03 we have now, we put a Bender monoshock under it with the double spring and Penski shock. That is the best riding shock and spring combo we have. I think it even rides nicer than my Apex GT with the electric Ohlin's.
On my first 03 I tried the A D Bovin skid but didn't like it, that would have been great for drag racing, but not a good ride for all conditions. It was better than the Pro-Craption.
We also used articulating handlebar risers to move the steering forward, that little change makes a big difference to handling. I would swap out the skis as well, we have pilots on ours, but I hear the new Yami skis are pretty nice.
Lastly, we did the MPI wide AArms. They make the sled rail, but we have had a lot of issues with bending the outer bolts that go through the ski leg. You don't have to hit anything to cause the bolts to go Z shape. This year, I tried some really hard Grade 8 bolts, so far so good!
Anyway, I swapped back and forth with my daughter this weekend, I actually like those as well as my apex.
The RX1 has some nice features and the motor is awesome. If Yami wouldn't have missed the mark so bad on ride and handling, the Apex would probably still be called RX1. With a few mods, it is a great ride!

I would like to mod my 2003 RX-1 with an Apex seat, but can't seem to find one to buy. Anyone have any suggestions?

I have a 03 rx1, I would like to put a higher seat like being discussed on here, so what years and sleds will the seats work for this? Thanks for any input

Any of the RS chassis seats (Rage, Vector , Nytro...) should work, and apparently some year apex is the same also? I went with a '06 nytro seat, it has the added bonus that the connectors for the tail light are the same. The other models will require a little rewiring.
