I don't know ,they are not in the parts book yet,and I never looked when
I was at the dealer. I suspect not . This is just something that I am going to be looking at . I wonder if the 06 has the noise I haven't seen a post on it .

Good thinking Wilson. The noise seems worse when slowing, maybe the track slackens enough to rub those steel nubs and increase noise. My new hyfax and wear buttons helped alot, now I'm thinking rubber wheels, and the direction your heading is interesting too. Maybe thats why Yamaha sets up the tracks so tight,so those nubs don't rub, though it's not good for slides!

Sounds like another likely cause of this track noise. I've thought on my 05 venture, that there must be some wear showing some where do to the vibration and noise. Can't check it now because it's at the dealers waiting its turn to be looked at, probably a waste of time again. Have you guys been calling Yamaha's customer service? I have, without much success, but at least it's on record. Thinking about talking to a attorney, there must be laws against producing junk like this.

I rode 2 T660 Cats. A two up and a 1 up back to back with my Vector. What a difference in noise. All you hear is air . Very nice. Yamaha is ignoring all of us about this problem. I have tried everything including 2 different tracks. I am done with this noisy POS. Do not know what I am getting for next year, but it will not be one of these deafening excuses for a snowmobile.

I spring purchased an 06 RS Venture after being told by my dealer and the Yamaha rep at the Portland Maine spring show that the track noise had been fixed for 06.
I just returned from Saguenay Quebec and after two days and 430 miles my ears were ringing and my head was throbbing.
It is no fun to ride a machine that produces this much noise and vibration.
I have talked to two dealers and they dont know of a fix .
I will be fileing a complaint with the state attorney generals office .
Continued riding will most probably produce ear damage.
I ride with ear plugs but it is still a problem.
This machine will have to go.

look at your limiter straps - mine have an hourglass wear pattern where they wrap around the the lower shaft.
The track nubs rub on these as the track shimmies laterally. Rubber on rubber probably makes a horrible noise. Could try running without limiter straps in a smooth area to test this theory
I agree it comes from the front of the skid - passenger always says: I really don't hear much track noise...
My drivers also look like hell.

Hope you get somewhere with that. I have tried everything at my expense with only minor improvements. I can not believe these sleds pass the ISO ? 78 decibel noise limit. Yamaha will not even admit this is a problem. Try riding it for a week. My ears are still ringing in July.corvette327 said:I spring purchased an 06 RS Venture after being told by my dealer and the Yamaha rep at the Portland Maine spring show that the track noise had been fixed for 06.

az99, I sure understand your comment on ears ringing, 10-15 mi. is about all I can stand. Last week I called Yamaha customer service again, and this time made some headway, the next day the selling dealer called me to inform that Yamaha was sending parts to install an idler shaft and 2 wheels in the upper tunnel to support the track and lift it away from the front steel wear pads. The work was performed by the dealer at no cost, my warrenty is up. I had him install new slides, being the skid was out, and I installed the SLP wear pads, on the stand it sure sounds better, but because of the warm up we have no snow here to test, will be heading north tomorrow. I have to notify Yamaha on the hopeful improvements that this mod has done, and will post with pictures as soon as I get back home.

PS I also noticed that the dealer adjusted the track very loose, a good 1 to1 1/2 in hang at the center.

What is the number to the customer service for yamaha, the only thing i found in my owners manual is an address to write them, a little disappointing.

So Charles,
How did the new shaft and wheels work?
Can you post a picture of this fix?
Many Thanks.

No chance. According to the Customer Disservice rep I talked to. She said no one from Yamaha ever reads these boards. In fact she stated that all these problems are just made up and the people posting are a bunch of liars. Both problems I discussed (track howl and excess hyfax wear) were the first they were notified of the problem. Yea right.Wilson said:I wonder if Yamaha was reading this site check my post feb 27. I was real impressed with the help they gave me. :exc: I was obviously one of the no votes.

Do you have record of the part numbers that they supplied for this repair? That would be a big help to others to get their foot in the door if they are getting nowhere with customer service. Pictures would be great too if you can get them.
