Hey guys, i have an '05 rx-1 i just bought used. 3000 miles on it. It has been reclutched by previous owner. the thing is super fast! But, it dioesnt engage until around 4000 rpms and it is sort of harsh. Im looking for the stock set up. does anyone know wha thte stock rpm engagement is? anyone have these parts to buy?I found weights form an '03 rx1 on ebay, after i bought them i see they are a different number than the '05 rx-1 on the parts listing.
Also, Has anyone tried the spring on ebay that gets rid of the engine braking? It took a little bit to get used to the engine braking, but i've grown to like it alot. This "new" spring is supposed to lower the engine rpm and get rid of the engine braking. I was just wondering what everyone thought about this. Is it worth $25? will it make the sled fall flat on its nose? thanks guys!

sorry guys, for got to add one thing: what is the color of the OEM front spring on my '05rx-1 ? I know mine isnt stock. and how much do they cost. thanks again

You don't want the clutch stock. Some simple adjustments can fix your engagement. Generally, engagement is controlled by the roller diameter and the spring tension. You might want to switch to a weaker spring.

If you want to look at what parts are original, you can see them here: http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/parts/home.aspx note that according to the parts list, your stock spring is yellow-silver-yellow.

What parts do you have in your clutch now? Are you able to identify them? If not, post pictures.

And one last thing... do NOT use that fleabay spring. Its a scam. Engine breaking is a GOOD thing, once you've gotten used to it, you won't even notice it. In fact, after a while if you try riding a 2-smoke sled, you'll find that you miss the engine breaking.

Little hint on using the engine breaking... if you don't want it to slow down so hard, give it more throttle. Owners of 2-smoke sleds have a tendency to completely release the throttle. Just keep on it a little.

YEP!!!!!

The stock '05 clutching isn't bad. Mine worked great. I ended up changing because I prefer a higher engagement myself and I have a habit of changing things because I'm bored lol.

wihgts

dont forget you are not geting 4000 rpm at your clutch thats only moter rpm the clutch rpm is lower due to the gear reduction built in to the moter .

Yes, but i believe the engine rpm of a stock unit is somewhere between 3500-3800 rpm's . correct? thats what i's like to be at. lower woudl suit me fine also. just as long as the sled doenst fall flat on its face .
