I have a 2005 RX-1 that has has a problem and I am wondering if you guys can help me. Sometimes when sitting idling the triangle warning light flashes along with the gas icon and gas gage. I took it too the dealer but as usual it did not act up. Any ideas would be much appeciated. It flashes 8 times then stops and keeps repeating over and over again.
Check your coolant strength should be 50/50 or 60/40. Yamaha has sent a lot of these machines out with 100% glycol which does not cool as good as a mixed version of it. Make sure the your fluid level is up. I think your overheat warning light is coming on.
I'd check the fuel level sender connector for moisture/loose wires or corrosion.
Sometime the brains in these things get screwed up for no reason and need a reboot. To do this take the ground battery lead off for 30 mins then reinstall. That might smarten it up also.

As with all RX-1s, there is a problem where the wiring harness passes thru the bulkhead under the tool-box. Rubs thru the coating and the wires start shorting.
My 05 did it in under 500 miles last year.
Fix at Hackers was to wrap it with about 10 feet of black tape.
