Hey guys I'm looking at a 05 rx1 without reverse and 1200 miles by my house. The guy will take 6000. Does this seem fair or too high? It has hauck cams, cdi, exhaust,k+n filters, and clutching with 144 studs. All the mods are under warranty for one more year. Should I jump , or keep hunting. Thanks for the help all.-Dave

The 05s had rear suspension issues. Weak rails and non-greasable bushings are the two I remember, maybe others. Some of the problems had dealer updates to fix.

Re: rx
I believe so. There are threads about the issue and Yami fixes. You may want to do a search.

They will NOT upgrade unless you break it under warranty or have a dealer you know very very well.
The 05 is an excellent sled otherwise - the updates will cost you $200-$300. IF your gonna get the sled - I'd reccomend spending the $$ for the updates.

Personally I wouldn't buy a sled unless it was 100% or very close to stock.
With all those mods who knows how well it will hold up or what sort of quirks it has.
As far as suspensions, the 06 mono is still on the weak side. It is more durable than the original 05 suspension.
You might find that sled already has the 06 suspension updates (front pivot arm & rail reinforcements).
The ultimate Yamaha right now IMO is the 2007 RTX with reverse. Replace the chaincase with an 05 one and you should have one very durable, high performance sled (Apex's have problems with overheating the chaincase because they are made of magnesium instead of aluminum - maybe in 2007 they will go back to Aluminum - who knows...).

For a grand more you should be able to get a low mileage 06, much better investment. Get reverse for potential resale.

thanks for the reply guys. This sled is tempting b/c its 20 miles away and in great shape, but I would rather have reverse, thats for sure. Thanks for the good points guys, keep up the good work. BTW this week I got to take a spin on a couple of apex's. WOW Yami is on the right track.
