I hesitate to tell you about these three sleds because all of them are not studded and mine is. I think that there is still some interesting info.

First is a 2012 Apex XTX, it has around 400 miles, not turning top rpm yet. This is the first time the owner let her go. He has been breaking it in per Yamaha's instructions. First race was from a dig on a rail road bed. It was hard pack with a couple inches of fresh lake effect snow. My sled pulled him out of the hole and stayed there. We might have run up to 70mph. Second race from a 20 mph roll. Again my sled jumped him about a sled and I did not see him pull on me at all. Later that day we found a drag race set up in a field. My sled had way to much wheelie out of the hole. I was over the headlight for about 60ft trying to keep it down. The Apex was out about 4+ sled lengths on me and stayed there. Not sure what the difference was in the snow but I was set up wrong for the field. I can see the true potential of the new Apex. I can't believe how hard it runs stock, remember it is not broke in yet. I can see the writing on the wall what is to come down the road with this black beauty.

For years I have wanted to run a F1000. I never found one that wanted to run me. This year my friend bought a 2007 F1000 with Y pipe, pipe, can, boondocker. It has a 128 ripsaw with out studs. His son bought a 2008 F1000 stock, Cobra track, no studs.
We all got a chance to get together this weekend. We were sitting at my dads waiting for another friend to show up. I told my sons friend to make a run down the road in front of us at high speed. The road was very hard pack, almost ice. He had a hard time getting enough traction to pin it. When he went by the house he hit 101. My friend was next to make a pass. He went by the house at 120mph. Then I made a pass. Remember my sled is studded with two teeth ground off my speedo sensor. I hit 94 mph in the same distance. At this time I think I have my work cut out for me running these two sleds.
Next we run them on a gravel road that had six inches of snow that was drove on a mostly packed down, but it was real light snow to start with. Not the best drag racing conditions. All races were from a roll trying to make it as fare as possible. First race was the modded F1000. My sled jumped out about a sled and stayed there. We run for a pretty good distance. I know it was far enough that my friend was getting nervous of it blowing up. We ran several times. I would always jump out on him. It seemed like most races I was pulling a little on him. I remember one race when he was pulling on me a little, probably just a traction thing. I think the motor is there and when it is studded it will be a different story. I drove the modded F1000 and raced his sons F. I was spinning out of the hole, at about 60 mph she started to pull hard and the skis came up at least a foot when she hooked. His sled is suppose to be around 195hp with his mods so I was very surprise with the race results.

Now it was time to run the stock F1000. I was feeling very confident at this time. My sled pulled him very easy and walked away. I know the stock F1000 was not set up well from the factory and needed some work.

On a side note. I took the stock F for a ride for about five miles through some fields. I have heard how nice they ride and I wanted to see what it was like. I didn't want to turn around. The sled felt a lot lighter than the RX 1 even though I know there is less that 75lbs difference. The ride was awesome, very smooth and i really liked it. When getting back on my sled the biggest difference I felt was how heavy the front felt and that I felt all the small bumps with the front end (maybe I need better front shocks). The mono rear was very smooth and eating up the bumps, but the front was not as good as the F1000 with the Fox air shocks. I have to say I still love my RX1. What a motor, she runs and sounds like no other motor in the business.
Sorry so long.
