Would there be any benefit to going to the new style efi mcx box....I have the old rectangular one (2006 kit) .....Heard that it makes a difference with throttle response because it compensates for altitude and controls your boost pressure....I ride mainly 4000-7500' sometimes up to 10 000' ride 15-17psi of boost, LC pistons and 2 head gaskets...Hearing that the RB3 box is working to.....thanks

I may not have all the info here, but i have the "old style" ECU and it compensates for altitude, so i guess all you need to do is an reprogram and get an MAP sensor!
I run an upgraded Apex MCX with an RB3 and for me the RB3 works pretty good, but i heard the PC3 works as good if not even better!

All the old ECU reads for fuel management is the map sensor and a wire hooked to one of the stock injectors for the pulse......the 07 and newer kits came with the newer one that compensates for altitude and has a line to the waste gate of the turbo to maintain boost levels at elevation....I think......

I believe you have the TCS valve on the 06 kit also!
If you look @ the frame behind the driven clutch, do you have an thin red/black cable running backwards from the ECU? If you dont have that, and you don't have the TCS valve @ the rear beside the turbo boost cannot be regulated by the ECU, only by the spring force on the wastegate!
If thats the case you also need an TCS along with MAP sensor and reprogramming of the ECU.

I know I have the old style....has red and black wires for power blue for pulse, grey pair for mcx injectors, and a map sensor....I posted this wondering if the 07 ecu makes a difference with fuel management and throttle response? So your rb3 was a big difference compared to the mcx ecu? The only thing with that I guess you need to map it for the elevation your riding? Does the mcx compensate in altiude the mixture and boost level? Just trying to decide if going to a new efi controller make a difference

Hey there, now i understand what you mean, your's is older then mine, i forgot there been another one before the one i have.

I have the RB3 in conjunction with MCX ECU, i'm not an big fan of overloading the injectors so i have the RB3 to finetune fueldelivery over the load, subtract fuel off boost and add fuel @ boost over 17lbs.
Ignition is also altered depending of boost and rpm.
Now the engine always run clean and throttle response is crisp.
Would be interesting to compare to an Apex with PC3, it was a friend of mine that told me when they dynoed an Apex with RB3 they didn't get it to run as with the PC3, when they installed an PC3 instead it was a night and day diffrence !?!?

So I got a email from Erik and I didn't realize but the newer ecu like yours only compensates the boost pressure to altitude not the fuel map....did the RB3 make a big enough difference that it was worth it?

Yes, the logic behind that is that you want to keep the power as the altitude rises.
If my memory serves my right the fuelmap is good up to around 20lbs!

Hmmm, was it worth it?
Both yes and no (can i be more vague?)
You get the opportunity to finetune fuel both on and off boost, you also can finetune ignition before boost, low rpm, and retard ignition as boost and rpm rises, and to me that makes it worth it, but to others it might not, it's up to you.
As i wrote earlier, i suggest you take a look @ PC3, and check with Erik, thet got them tuned for your sled.
