Just had a test ride on an 06 Attack. Very sweet machine but just had a question about some bottoming that I felt.

I had the shock set on the hardest setting and on some big bumps it was still bottoming. My dealer told me that it was set for his weight of 160 lbs and I am 215 lbs. He said that it coudl be set for my weight, is this true or will I have some issues with this sled. I am planning on getting an 07 Attack GT so just want to make sure the sled is right for me ( I know the 07 GT has a different shocks as well).

Thanks

You could not have had it on the stiffest setting, mine is set 2 below stiffest and I am 215 and does not bottom.

It felt like it to me that it was on the Max Hard, but I was affraid to push anymore where it was not my sled!

Is it true about setting it up for the riders weight?

So adjusting the shock cover will make a difference

Bill

I am 235 & I moved clip to middle position. It takes a huge bump to bottom my rear skid!

Why do you want a GT? The Color or the shocks? I have an 06 attack with the bigboy rear spring it it flat out rocks. I was very temped to buy the rear ohlin but after 400 miles I can tell you I don't want or need it.

I also had an opportunity to ride to attacks with the gyrt piggy back fronts on them. I wasn't impressed with them. The stock shocks where more plush.

SO in my book unless it's the color you want the extra money you have to pay for the shocks isn't worth it.

Jim, He probably had the remote adjuster set in hardest setting, but probably not the shock collar its self.

Yeah, crank the preload up (collar on the rear of the shock, use the spanner wrench)

Not very many complaints on the Attak or ER bottoming, the GT yes, that one needs the stiffer spring if you are much over 200 lbs

i have a question, how do you adjust the clip for less bottoming? Which direction.. Can anyone detail this for me?

It is like a 5 position ramp with notches. Go to notches that are further away from the spring. It will be easier to do with the back end off the ground

It is possible to adjust for your weight, I'm 240# w/the c-clip on the hardest setting, cam is on #4 & only bottom on the worst of bumps.

#$%&* ..Sorry

But unless you ride at 25MPH.........It Bottoms Lots, And I've played with mine for about a month now.

YAMAHA CANADA.......On YCN Talks about the spring being UNDER RATED

You need the 5.4KG spring at least or the BIG BOY. Do a poll and you will see how many bottom out reguarly.
