2006 Stock Exhaust material?

What material is the stock exhaust from a 2006 Apex? Found a little problem that needs welding.

Its stainless but I found that any old regular Mig welder welds just fine.
Snapped mine in the exact same place.

MIG, with fluxcore wire is the best to use on these vs TIG, as the soot inside the pipes contaminates the weld puddle and blows through. Been there done that
If you ever need to replace the muffler, look for a used 08+ Apex muffler, they put a reinforcing plate across the pipes with a rubber iso-mount to the tunnel in the area where these are breaking, pipes must be flexing and work hardening over time.

Funny thing is I've put on 17 k miles on my 2 2007 Attaks and never had an issue.. short track issue only?

Mine failed around 5k miles on my Attak. I don't think it matters if its a shorty or not. The exhaust system and mounting is exactly the same.
Driving style may have something to do with it tho.

I bought mine used and the previous owner severely neglected it. I got it cheap but I now realize the amount of money and time I've put into it I could have bought a nice low mile Apex.

You don't know tho if the newer machine would of needed work as well. I hear ya tho. I have a clean Attak for sale it was never beat up as I ride real easy,etc. And I read a post like yours I of the poor suckers who will be buying beat on machines with lower miles even instead of mine. And mine sits...just a couple of low ballers not even calling to ask questions on what it really has or been like. Hope they get some good beat on ones.

should of bought my machine... got a guy who love's Apex's coming to buy it. Say's he can tell mine would be tight and clean due to my easy riding and skills. Finally a smart cookie.
