Well, we're off to a better start this year than last. Some trails are still gated off (easement across owners who hunt the elusive white tail) but the groomer has headed out at least once that I have seen.
There is approximately 2 feet of the white stuff on the ground. Even out where the snow has drifted there is at least 16" in the shallow spots....who knows how deep where the drifts land! Not a lot of base yet as we haven't had warm enough temps lately to get a good pack on the first powder. Stay tuned!

Well the groomers are hitting the trails pretty hard. All the trails in the Newberry Area are now open (ie gates are all open now). Haven't got a ton of fresh new snow but the snow we have seems to be sticking around quite nicely. The lakes are froze enough that the ice fisherman have been venturing out. It supposed to warm up around here for a little while but it doesn't sound like it will stay around or above the freezing mark for too long. Shouldn't be too much trouble with a white Christmas this year!

We got the rain here that I'm sure a lot of you got before Christmas. Things have frozen back up quite nicely but we have yet to receive any substantial new snow since the rain. Most of the trails are frozen mud right now. There is a nice stable base in most places, but we really need a good snow to cover it all up. Calling for snow between now and New Years so we shall have to wait and see.

Well it's snowing and blustery as all hell right now out here. There is great snow out right now to be had by all, but we'll have to see how well we survive this weekend. The forecast is calling for high 30s possibly 40s (!!!!) with rain for Saturday through Wednesday, then it supposed to cool back off. I guess we'll have to wait and see how it all shakes out.

Well as was predicted and feared, its about 40 degrees and raining. The snow pack is getting really thin and I'm sure one more day of this will have all but the deepest of snow gone. The end of this week and into this coming weekend is supposed to turn colder but by then the damage will be done. As of now, the trails are mostly mud so it's gunna take some time to get them back to even half way decent for riding.

Everything has froze back up to an extent, but the damage is done. It snowed a skiff overnight and that is all there is on the trails. They are calling for about 60% chance of snow for Friday so we shall have to wait and see. I would say there really won't be enough snow in the Newberry area for riding until at least January 18. I just want to cry...
Instead I think I'll

Well we got a surprising amount of snow overnight here! I wouldn't go so far to say that the riding will be "awesome" but one could definitely get out and buzz around with out driving though dirt. Probably got about 4" or so overnight and its still snowing lightly. With the 6-10 day outlook staying below freezing, the trails may be back to rideable sooner than I had predicted in my previous post.

Well I wouldn't go so far to say that we have as much snow as we did before the rain, BUT damn we sure got some nice snow to ride on right now! Nuff said!!

Well the snow continues to fall, and with the CCCCCOLD temps we've been having, everything has firmed up quite nicely. There is a warming trend for this weekend and into early next week to get up into the 30s (eek!) so its hard to say what effect that will have on the snow pack. Stay tuned.

Stu, how are the trails holding up with the warm up and a little rain, looks like it is going to get cold again. I will be in newberry on the 10 till the 22.
