I forgot to mention also THE "TRAIL" THROUGH THE VILLAGE OF NEWBERRY IS CLOSED FOR THE SEASON not that you would want to drive your sled through Newberry anyway because the streets are all bare. This season is quickly starting to look like it's coming to a close.
Well this past weekend, we did get between 1-4" of wet snow but it has since mostly disappeared as there was hardly any base left to hold it. The trails are still open (gates) but I think its more a formality at this point. There is snow but pretty much all boondocking now. That snow is probably not going to hold out long as they are talking rain for Tuesday and the temps are slowly creeping back up toward low 40F.
Local Club Report:
>>SNOW ON THE GROUND: 20 inches to ???
>>
>>BASE: 0-10 INCHES
>>#9 NORTH WAS GROOMED TO PINE STUMP NIGHT BEFORE LAST AND RATED AS POOR TO FAIR. GETTING SNIRTY IN AREAS.
>>
>>#45 TO THE FALLS WAS GROOMED AS FAR AS CR 500. Problem area around Skyline where there is logging going on. Trail is rated as fair to poor. Sleds have
>>been making it through beyond CR 500.
>>
>>COME PREPARED WITH ENOUGH GAS BECAUSE IT IS HARD TO GET INTO TOWNS TO GET FUEL.
Well, we have snow...but the groomers are put away for the season. April 1 they will be closing the gates on the trails just north of the railroad tracks in Newberry and the trail that connects M-123 to County Road 446 (Silver Creek Staging area). While the amount of snow that fell on Sunday is impressive (ranging from 4" to 8") it doesn't look like it will last more than a couple days with the temperatures predicted. Unless something spectacular happens this will be my last report for this sledding season. See you next winter!
