On occasion my Apex will idle high. I've only noticed this happening after I've been riding for a while and it's fully warm. Will come to a stop and it will just stay at a high idle...2500-3000 rpm maybe. Seems to be completely random. So, I thought I'd play with the idle knob a bit and though I turned it in several directions each way, it really had very little/no effect on the idle. Does this idle air control valve need to be taken off and cleaned/replaced?

Have the same problem on my 06 vector could not sync the carbs from 3-1

That would be a good place to start. Be sure to by a syncing tool to get it dialed back in once you re-install it. A lot of guys on here (including myself) have the opposite problem; idling too low then stalling. I have been meaning to do my IAC as well, just haven't got around to it.

agree , clean iac for hanging idle, cheap free place to start!!

If you take the adjusting screw out of the IAC take special note of the position of the screws and put them back exactly you will be ok. Put a mark on the housing and count the turns to bottoming out, do not interchange screws.

Idle Air Control valve. It uses coolant temp variation to adjust the amount of air available to pass through the throttle bodies when the sled is idling.

So I have a low idle when warm I have tried adjusting it up with the plastic knob on the iac but no change. When cold the sled also idles like it has huge cams until the warmup light goes out. Any ideas?

Yes Try leaner, maybe 10. It's easy to do and wont't hurt anything. Some guys have gone to -15 and -20. Could try on the + side if that doesn't work. If it works at some point, fine tune from there.

Is there another way to adjust the idle? Mechanical stop or something? I can turn the knob 10 turns and makes no difference.

Mine does not work either but I believe the adjustment knob is part of the IAC valve which controls the idle (someone correct me if I'm wrong). So once again, it points to the IAC valve being dirty or faulty....
