Hi Guys,

I own a 2005 RX1ER. Thinking on updating to an 07 or an 08 APEX RTX. Have some questions.

1. How did the paint hold up on the rear suspension parts? Hopefully better than my RX1.

2. How good is the sturdiness of the Rear Suspension? Many breaks? Again, hopefully better than my 2005 RX1.

3. Did the hand and thumb warmer problem get fixed for 2007?

4. Is the only difference between 07 and 08 the shock package on the RTX

5. Did you race an 2007 MXZ 800 on a lake and what were the results? Most my friends ride this sled. Only interested in Stock Sleds for this question because that is how I will ride this one.

Thanks for all you input,
Chris

Only issue I have is where my boots rub against the tunnel. I would have preferred it to be alum with no paint

Again, hopefully better than my 2005 RX1. me and my buddy are both 300lbs with 2007 RTX we beat them bad and have had no issues yet

They are not as hot as my wifes vector, and I generally had to have them on high, but with the low windshield and very very thin gloves I never had an issue

No I didnt, I did run against the MachZ 1000 but it wasnt stock and he killed me....the Apex is what it is... 150hp, and there are faster sleds out there, but to me I give up a little speed to have the ride and confidence of the RTX... also the RTX is geared differently I have been told than some of the other Apex, and the Attak as it is more for rough trails not lake running...but I love it.

I Absolutly Love my 07 RTX.

1.Paint on rear skid is perfect after 1900 hard miles last season. Like Kevin said, the black is rubbing off where my feet go.

2. Rear skid can take some abuse. I weigh 200 lbs and havent had an issues and I am a very aggressive rider.

3. Handwarmers wont be as good as your 05 rx but much better than a 06 Apex.

4. I've only raced one sled so far and it was a 600 polaris and he got murdered. My buddy has a 07 rtx and he ran about even with a 05 zr 900 sno pro.

I Hope some of this helps.

I'm a 100% happy with mine. My boss runs an 07 renegade 800 and I beat it no prob. Also I belive the shock packages are the same for 07 and 08??

Yea they just do EVERY thing right!!!

Skydog P.S. The RTX that is! :)

Man i added the bump stops and i love the skid!! All i added was that and some skis! And it is a ROCKET in the trails! You can go so fast and never feel out of control! Now my Rx1 that is a hole diffrant beast!! HA HA

I have the bumpstops as well they do help the sled out alot. It still has a tendency to blow thru the stroke sometimes. I know what you mean about on the trail. The sled rocks it reminds me of the srx power and feel but you have a suspension. I run Powder Pros on mine and it made a huge difference on how the sled handled.

Man same skis on mine to buddy! HA HA Yea rocking down the trail SO SO FAST AND SMOOTH like a video game!! Every thing just feels so right. The only thing i might get is those $40.00 pads for the gas tank me knees get a little sore if we are riding way hard for a few days! LOVE IT!!

1. No issues with paint on the rear supension, the paint on the tunnel tends to rub off wear your feet set.

2. Rear suspension is great, probably could be a little stiffer, set up much like a REV. No wear or breaks on mine after 1100 miles.

3. Hand warmers could definately be hotter, my hands stayed warm enough with Yamaha team gloves.

4. Don't know.

5. I have owned 2 REVS. The apex sound have no problem beating a 07 800, the 08 will be a different story. My Apex beat my REV 800 X on the lake by a sled or a half a sled every time, the rider on my REV was also 30 lbs lighter than me. The Apex is stock with 168 studs 1.25" track. Doo was clutched, geared, reeds, can and some other doo tuning secrets that I did to it. It was no slouch either. The Apex is one hell of a fast box stock sled!

What are these bump stops everyone is talking about and what do they do?

Thanks! :yam:

The bump stops are shaped like a cylinder and bolt to the rail, they are off of a stock 05 Vector suspension. They are positioned near the center of the torsion spring when the suspension begins to collapse preventing full collapse. I just installed a set on my 07 RTX due to the bottoming out in deep swells at slow speeds.

In my opinion this is an incredible snowmobile designed for high speed mogul bashing and superior acceleration in and out of corners. If you pre-load the suspension coming into a bump it will launch you like a rocket! My only complaint is the handwarmers were sub-par in my opinion, this is coming from someone who never used them on my SRX"s. My friend has the same sled and his warmers were a little better than mine, I'm not sure why that is?
