Thanks! Looks to me you need more snow by the photos!!I picked up some XCS for my apex. This is my first Apex, and I never tried it with stock skis to compare. Ive only gotten about 200 miles on them, and so far I like them. Conditions havent been the best with a real heavy sticky snow, but they sure do bite well. Maybe a little more steering effort im guessing, they even look like they would turn harder than stockers. I really dont want to judge that until I run them on some different conditions. They tracked straight on the trails no darting at all, and they felt rock solid when riding in the tire ruts on the number roads. Not enough snow to try them off trail, but they seem like they should do ok it says so on the box LOL
I found the whole package on ebay for $460 to my door with mount and 6" carbides.

I ride in the UP mostly so as you probably know its mostly sugar/lake effect snow up there. I had a set of C&A Pro's on my 2 stroke Viper one season. In the UP of Michigan they were awesome, no dart, turned on a dime and tracked where ever you pointed them. Down here in Minnesota they tended to be too aggressive and wore me out being the snow pack was different.
My buddy has the C&A Pro Powder models on a 2006 Attak Mpi Supercharged machine with a 136" Cobra and nails. They float and track straight but wear you out even in the UP. I find that sled more fun when I can pinch it on a straight away! The skis are mostly in the air then!

The best combination for price and function that I found was Yamaha mountain skis and Bergsrtom 8" triples. I did find that the ski savers made them very dicey on crust so I removed them and still found that they perform well on the trail
Would that be the Yamaha Mountain 8FK-23711-00-BK ski bottoms? If so do the carbides and loops transfer from the stock skis?

yes they do. i have done it a few times with no real issues. i do reccomend getting parts 11 through 14 from the 09 apex mtx ski diagram as i have personally broken a few bolts when i did it with washers the 1st time.Would that be the Yamaha Mountain 8FK-23711-00-BK ski bottoms? If so do the carbides and loops transfer from the stock skis?

I recently sent some questions to Curve about their XS ski which tends to get very good reports. They have the Leader kit for under $400. They never returned my e-mail. I then discovered a better price on this kit on here from BOP so I messaged him wondering why only 4" of carbide. He hadn't tested them yet but claims Curve says that these rider fwd machines already have enough ski pressure and 4" is enough carbide. My thought is I'd probably need 6" on a 136 Apex with a Ripsaw II and I would not classify it as totally rider fwd but does have enough front end weight. I wonder if I'd need the Leading Edge add on too?

I'm a big fan of Slydog skis with Bergstrom triple point carbides on the Apex based sleds. Been running this set up for years on both a 136" and 144" Apex sleds with great results. We do most of our riding also in the western UP. With proper sled set up darting is minimal, the sled goes where you point it, and the steering effort is pretty light.
This setup works great ! I like the 7" Powder hounds

Thanks for all the responses. I should have known better and put this on the section for skis. I have finally made a decision to go with the Curve XS ski. I am going to order them from Travis at BOP tomorrow.

I have over 20,000 miles on Simmons gen 2 skis. The sleds rail with this set up. I have them on my new 14 XTX with power steering . Awesome ski for the heavier 4 strokes
