Okay ive looked all over the forum and i cant seem to find any info on this. Is there any downside to removing the front heat exhanger protectors? This summer i am planning on installing a 1.5" intense track on my attak and from what i can understand you can either notch the track or remove the front heat echanger protectors. Is there any disadvantages to removing the protectors? I am not going to be installing studs. And i also understand that you need to remove the tunnel protectors. Thanks for the help in advance guys!

It's easier to damage the heat exchanger obviously but I did it and haven't had any problems. I don't think studs in it would be good tho..

Does anyone have a picture of the notches they had to make in the track for it to fit? I like the idea of leaving the exhanger protectors on the sled just for the added protection, the only thing im a bit worried about is making the track weaker by notching it. (Easier to rip lugs off ect...)

Dont have pics right now but I had to notch the larger lug track (1.25") to get it to fit on my SRX. It is really just trimming about 1/4-1/2 each off of every third lug or so (on right and left of track) or whichever lugs come on contact with the exchanger protectors. As long as you make a clean cut across the lug, should not be a big deal to do. I used a jigsaw to do mine.

Okay that makes more sense now! I was under the impression that instead of actually cutting 1/4" off the whole lug, people were just cutting a notch big enough for the protectors to clear but your way makes much more sense. I think ill just trim the track as that seems like the better soloution. Thanks for the help! ;)!
