we rode for about fifty miles then stopped to eat came back out turned the key heard the fuel pump cycle like normal then went to turn it the rest of the way and nothing tried several times sometimes you can hear a click must be no power going to the starter this has done this in the past its on the second starter put in a couple of years ago. Is this common with this sled any info would help thanks.

Is this a 2007? The starter bolts have probably come loose and the middle section has rotated out of phase. Remove the starter, line up the green line to the casting lines on the end caps. Reassemble with LocTite on the long bolts.

Now its been in a heated garage for five hours and I decided to try it and it clicked a couple of times and now is turning over so I will check connections and solenoid how hard is it to get to the starter the ride we were on when it happened it was cold and the sled was about fifth in line and a lot of snow dust. I'm starting to wonder if water or the cold causing something. thanks for the help will report back tomorrow.

Same thing happened to me about a week ago.

Ended up having to pull start it to get it home.

Runs like a top now thanks to this forum!

My son's '09 Phazer did the click, click, start thing and it was the solenoid that was pooched. Doing the short across the posts test will confirm it.

Starter removal is in that thread I posted. You could cheat and just cut off the piece protruding from the bottom of the engine.

BTW Harvey, you should add your location to your profile. It's a site requirement and it's also nice to know :-o

sorry for the late report we left the sled outside in the cold to get it to act up and it did so I jumped the solenoid and it started so just for the hell of it I let it sit and it wouldn't start again so I grabbed a heat gun and heated the relay and it started so now I don't know which one to replace?

Replace the solenoid. That's what's not working right.

Any chance you have apic of the tab you cut off? Does this save you from taking everything off?

Yes it does. You just remove the belly pan and it would come right out from the bottom. (after you remove the tab)

when I fixed my started I took the front end off.

Sorry, no picture but it should be pretty evident. It's directly under the starter and looks like something should bolt to it but there isn't anything that does.

My Phazer had a solenoid issue when I first got it. When it sat outside the solenoid would freeze up. It did this a half dozen times before I determined that there was a small vent hole under the connector that was letting moisture inside the solenoid. I took it out and put it on a register above the wood stove for a few days to dry it out, then filled the connector hole with dielectric grease. Haven't had any more problems in 3 years.

That's what i did with mine last year, remove under pannel, remove starter bolts and dropped the stater, then you can see what needs to be cut off,a bit tricky but much easier job,cpl hours and i was done, and yes,the starter bolts had loosened and was out of phase
