Well guys, I'm finally meeting Mighty next week to pick up my new ride.....(thanks for everything Dan  )

Anyways, I'm coming off a 2005 RX1, that is for me, perfectly dialed in. I get a consistent 16MPG, Hot Hands, comfortable, relaible and just about everything EXCEPT, all my buds have Apex's and I quickly went from the front of the pack to somewhere near the back. Those Attacks are just fast!

Anything I should know about the 08's? Hand warmers? Exhaust donuts? anythng worth noting or taking care of before the season? The sled has about 2900 miles on it so I'd like to cover off some maintenance before the snow flies. The obvious stuff I know. I'm looking for any info that applies only to the 08's.

What are the differences between the 06's and 07's to the 08's? Are there any?

08 ohlins all round & rear supension dialed in from 06-08. 08 anniversary colors then 2009 rear heat exchanger added & blue color & back to 07 general front end Attack spec. Check donuts & handwarners should be fine on 08. No real issues but don't think you will see 18 mpg unless you ride under 50mph. I get about 14.5 mpg on 07 Attack but push hard in UP.

Myself coming from a RX1-05 ER to a '08 APEX LTX the #1 thing I miss the most is the F'N hand warmers, the '08 are NO better than the '06/'07 they just don't heat up!!! for the rest its a nice improvement overall, 1 big improvement for me was a 13mm sway bar I found on the APEX by the higher seating position the C.O.G. is more noticable and makes it tipier/ski lift in corners, I'm 6'2" and aded a ROX 2" riser w/stock cables and WOW what a difference, you can set your bars back a bit and found a better seating position and if you run stock skis buy a set of STUD BOY DEUCE 6" carbide runners and she'll rail down the trail and 1 last thing test and DILUTE your coolant if need to, I drained out 2L and added distilled water and she's right on 60/40 mix and added a rear cooler for extra insurance. :letsnow:

Heres a pic of her...

Good info......did you also change the rear spring? Think the handwarmer got worse after the riser was added or did it not make a difference? I'm 6'3" and run about 240Lbs before gear and bags. I'm seriously thinking a spring change is needed.

Keep that sled forever! That 40th anniversary with the front and rear Ohlins is going to be worth something aways down the road. Dad baught one last season its a sharp looking sled and rides like a Caddy

The 08 Apex LTX GT is the BEST OF THE BEST so far bar none by YAMAHA

I'm pretty sure you are going 2 luv your New Ride :-o

Yes I did w/6.5 I'm also #240 suited...it realy rides nice once u got her set-up, I also pulled my limiter strap 1 hole and up-grading my front shocks with "CLICKERS" GYTR I've put on 6500kms last year...;)!

My hands are just thawing out from last year. I bought the Powermadd gauntlets at the end of last year. Hope they make a difference.Other than that I think it is the perfect sled for guys our size. Had 06 RTX and 04 Warrior Ltd previous. Ltx Gt is best by far imo.

With 2900 miles previous owner probably upgraded carbides. Doolies push a bit on my buds Rage but don't dart & I used Bergstrom 8" single bars with ski savers on my 07 Attack but darts in fresh groom only. Just bought 8" triple points with ski savers as improvement. At 240 probably 250+ geared you are close to rear spring upgrade on 08. I'm 230 geared ,also carry 10lbs of stuff in bags, & set 07 Attack GT at just under 10.5 inches & rarely bottom. So far so good but will go to stiffer spring if becomes a problem. Might want to ride first. Handwarmers set at about 3/4 or lower & warm enough for me. Only nagging 07 Attack GT problem is darting in very soft new groom conditions for me otherwise love my black on black sled.

Had them last year on my 06' stock bars and there were times I couldn't hold the bar they were so hot. You will deffinently like the Gauntlets, a little goofy but warm. If you don't have Hand gaurds you'll want to get them as they are what hold the gauntlet up. With out you will have a hard time getting you hand back in while riding and they can even hit the kill switch when flooping around. Overall you will like them. I would recomend them for any of the new sleds if you ride in low temps.

rxwonder, you bought my sled. Dan was supposed to sell it to me... Anyways, nice ride. I seen the sled in person and it's mint. It was at my dealer getting serviced just before Dan bought it. Anyways, Theirs lots of ways to improve on it. Dependability would be one for sure, meaning...

Change the exhaust donuts and put in the rear exchanger.

Then performance wise, I would go with a Cobra track, 22/38 gearing and a clutch kit from either Proline or Ulmer. Then it will go as good as it looks.

Sorry dude......good to know it's MINT though  . Then again....all of Dan's stuff is usually in good shape.

It's already got the rear cooler and a pre-studded track (Camo Ice-Ripper). I'm doing the donuts under warranty before the snow flies. As for gearing and clutching....not worth it for me. We ride 3/4 throttle all day long so that stuff doesn't matter much to me. I hope I like it which I'm sure I will. The only unknown right now is the rear spring which I'm not sure if I will upgrade yet or not.

Cheers......John :drink:
