well... my passenger side lower ball joint has huge play in it up and down.. the upper feels tight i plan on tomorrow calling my dealer and seeing if they were ever replace under warranty... 1600 miles. if that does not work can someone give me a good idea of what to do and who to go to for parts.... id love to do it on the sled taking the circles out. everything else feels tight a arms and other ball joints.. thanks

the spindle itself wouldn't wear right?? its likely the balljoint is just 100% wiped out

if they wont do anything for you go to WWW.procaliber.com and buy your genuine Yamaha parts there. You will pay just over half what the dealer will charge you for the parts. They are genuine Yamaha parts that come in the Yamaha packaging. I have used them several times and are very good to deal with.

Once you factor in shipping, even the cheapest ball joints are still like $230 a set. My plan, once mine go again, are to get a set of Mountaintech a arms. Better geometry and the joints he uses are heavy duty and dirt cheap to replace in the event that they do go out on you.

Birdmayon can you provide a link to the mountain tech arms so that we can all see what you are referring to. If the cost for the arms is in the $250 - $280 ballpark I might think about doing the same thing.

They are more than that but include all new hardware and ballpoints

I called my dealer today and gave him my vin and he said that there's an open bulletin on it and they will do the lowers for free as well as some hose clamp for a wire rub or Harness. Awesome news for me

I would still go with the Mountaintech arms! Huge improvement in the handling department.

Yeah sorry if I misled you. They run $650 a set. But, my reasoning is if I'm going to drop 2-300 on crappy replacement ball joints every few thousand miles, I'd rather double it and get new a arms that will solve the ball joint problem and make my sled handle better too. If you google mountaintech industries and nytro, you'll find his website. BTW, there are other good a arm alternatives out there as well, the mountaintech just seem to be a really good design at a great price, which makes them very attractive.

I think for this year I'm going to take the free ones from the dealer. And lube them up often. Then save for the mountain tech arms for next year

10-4. Thanks for the info.

I have an '08 so I guess I am going to call the dealer and see if I get some free via the tech bulletin as well.

I believe the replacement ball joints are much better than the originals. I have approx 6000 kms on mine and they are still as tight as the day I put them on.

Also I paid 90-100 each one canadian at the dealer here for the ball joints, should be cheaper for you american guys? Usually we get hosed on everything up here, especially now with the exchange rate what it is.
