We've got snow and it has been d*** cold throughout the State. Heard the Fareweell burn is white-not common.
I like to catch it at Shell Lake. Guys come screaming down the lake and don't know it turns and runs alongside the Lodge. They stop and look totally bewildered as to why everybody is waving at them.

If you think the look on their faces was funny, you should have seen the look on mine a couple years ago when I came through the finish line on my piped out Mtn. Max with about 100-200 people watching.
I didn't know it was the final day and was out for a ride. When I came around the bend on the Chena River everyone at Pike's Landing came down to watch someone finish and there I was, WOT, coming across the finish line. Needless to say, I did not stop.

It is a large area on the North side of the Alaska Range that got hit by a wildfire. Never seen it, just heard about it. It's known for getting windblown, so the snow goes away and it's wildlife-moose and buffalo. Irondog and Iditarod run through it.
I've only ridden it as far as Rainy Pass-that was a long day. Trail winds thru a lot of trees. Don't know how those guys go so fast and not hit a tree. Hope someday to do it in the trail class (not racing. Just a pleasure trip to Nome but there are fuel caches and support).
