So I have 400 miles on a 2009 Apex that has a Sled Start remote and Yamahaheaters installed, I am on my 3rd starter. The first one went bad 3 weeks ago, it melted the insulation off the armature and siezed it up and ran the battery dead on a ride in the woods. Tow it home, order a new starter and starter solenoid ($450) because the solenoid had corrosion on the terminals, thought that was the problem. Went on a 45 min ride last weekend, stopped for fuel, started fine and ran for about 15 min before it quit in the woods due to dead battery again, towed home and took apart the "new" starter and it had the same problem, melted and siezed armature, draw ran the battery dead. What gives?? Something is sticking on but by the time we get home all tests fine, the one way clutch gear seems fine, the key switch works fine, the solenoid is new. Anyone figured this out before??
