So I purchased a 2009 apex that had the bad exhaust donuts/pipe. I just finished installing new exhaust pipes along with the donuts. I put the sled back together and notice some exhaust coming from under the fuel tank area. Do I have an exhaust leak by the donuts? How can I run the sled with the fuel tank off to see if I have a exhaust leak by the donuts?

Some guys put a rag at the exhaust outlet to increase back pressure and (hopefully) make a leak more noticeable. You’ll see a lot of suggestions on this site to grind a little material from the spacer on the clamp holding the pipe/ donut/ header together to get a snug fit. If all those parts are new, and they went together snug, it’s unlikely they are leaking to any degree.
I don’t know how you would get the sled to run with the tank off except to maybe lift or turn it sideways so you could still connect the fuel pump lines and electrical connectors.
Let me know if I can help further.

I agree with TC, some of the clamps may not clamp snug. Make sure they do not spin, but be careful not remove to much off the stop block of the clamp or they will damage pipe. You may try running for a few miles and see if they settle in...that being said you do not want loose clamps. As for running without tank on..I think that would be a tricky. Hope this helps..if all seems snug I wouldn't sweat it.
That exhaust you see coming up from under the tank could be oils or other debris burning off the exhaust parts you just installed.
Do the rag test. If the motor stalls or wants to stall then you have no leaks. IF it keeps running then you may have a bad seal on the new donuts, or mid collector gaskets or a bad flex pipe.
I myself had a broken flex pipe this year. I removed the tank and set it on a bench close enough to the sled so I could connect the electrical and fuel line. Made an extension for the return line.
Then did the rag test to determine which flex was broken.

I think I will ride the sled at least once and see if it is just the oil burning off. Both Y pipes are replaced and also the donuts. Clamps are tight so I will see what happens after first ride. Really don't want to tear down the sled again right now.

I think you are prob good to go. When mine '07GT had an exhaust leak, (front of Y pipe came apart) it sounded like a Ducati motorcycle. If yours doesn't.....send it !!

You're fine! We just did a vector and the smoke from solvents, copper permatex, blaster, antisieze compound made a nice cloud. I put the palms of my GLOVED hands tight on the exhaust pipes and if it's quiet and wants to stall, you're good.
