2009 FX Nytro RTX SE Still Wet Foot!!

The photo below shows what I did for this season. The aluminum sheet replaces the duct tape I used last season, which I found to be very effective.

Thanks Crewchief...Told you I was a moron...I looked under my secondary after reading your post and it does seemed blocked up with a sheild of some type. I think I may play around with blocking up some of the other holes though. :rocks:

arteeex. Did blocking this off help? Does yours also have that plate underneath the clutches?

Yep. Last year I had duct tape covering the same area of the foot well. That worked just fine. This year I went for the upgrade in materials and expect identical results for my left foot but a 7% boost in horsepower.

I just rode my brand new Nytro in to work this morning on 12 inches of Fresh Pow in Madison Wisc. Guess what, about 6 miles into my 10 mile ride noticed that inside my Left Trukke Boot, my foot is wet? I thought Yamaha fixed this? Also, it's a good thing I bought new Klim Gloves this year because I can't even feel my handlebar warmers. What is going on? How can a $10,000 snowmobile have little Gremlins like this? Other than that, I now have 50 miles on it and it is a blast!! I do need gas already but my first ride I was breaking it in like I stole it. Plus the deep today took it down fast, so not worried about that yet. But, anyone else getting the wet left foot on the 09's?

If you want dry feet and warm hands stay in the house next to the fire! This is a Winter outdoor sport, you might get wet and cold at times. My Wife has 1200 miles on her 08 Nytro and she never ever complained about cold hands or wet boots. I'm glad My Wife doesn't complain as much as the big babies on these forums do.

LMAO!!! Agree 100%

do you have side vents?? That plate is going to keep alot of heat in and you know what that does to belts. I was looking at the same thing but going to install vents first.

There's a giant vent in the plastic just above the foot well already.

If covering this foot well raised the steady-state temp (and if you could have a steady-state at 60-mph) under the hood by 2-degrees I'd kiss your sister and three of her best friends too.

Before you start calling guys cry babies you should feel lucky you don't have an issue. My 08 had a major issue with wet foot. Also it is not just one foot it is always your left foot. THis is becasue Yamaha leaves holes in the bulkhead that go directly into the front area by you driveshaft. Take your bottom shroud off you Nytro and get yourself some silicone sealer and seal up the holes.

The dusty snow gets in these holes and then is melted by the heat from the clutchs. The spinning of the clutchs forces the moisyure onto your foot. Last year I went for a ride in Michigan and never got off the trail. By the end of 120 miles I was able to actually ring out my sock.

Seal the holes.

well im glad ive never had this problem i did take seat off and high temp silicone on every seem no water on side of tunnel my girlfriends boots used to get frozen to the side funny $%^

I put almost 300 miles on my RTX se this past weekend and I had dry socks when we stopped riding both days. What I noticed is water drips from the foot wells above your foot. Word to the wise keeps snow from building up above your foot. I think its worse on the Left side because heat is pushed out from the clutches
