Hello from Nova Scotia!
I'm back to sledding after taking a 3 yr break (divorce made the RX-1 go away, lol). I recently bought a 2009 XTX and had it out for 3 good days since Christmas.
I've been reading through countless threads on various set-ups (GREAT FORUM!!! :rocks: ) but I'm trying to dial it in for my weight range. I'm putting on a set of curves this week to hopefully correct some steering and I've read a lot on re-valving... I can't afford that right now.
- 260lbs, moderate rider, ride mostly trails and venture into the powder maybe 20% of the time.
Any thoughts or suggestions on some base settings for a heavier rider would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Not sure how you feel about the ride in the rear.
But I'm 215-220 loaded and found the 09 stock springs kinda soft.
No to mention, when the chassis loads up with ice and snow.
So I upgraded to stiffer springs. Now I can run on the softest preload and get the shock dialed in better.
*Note* 2011 xtx models shipped from Yamaha with a slightly stiffer rear spring than 09 and 2010 did.

I go about 235lbs. I had the rear shocks revalved at Pioneer and have Pilot ski's. Here is my set-up that you could try...it works great for me.

-Sway Bar- Front Hole

-Front Shocks-
Compression= 5-6 clicks out from full soft
Rebound= 3 clicks out from full soft
Shocks= 2.5" of threads showing (9" of spring)

-Front Rear shock-
Start at 1 1/8" of thread showing (7.5" of Spring)...this front rear shock is very important imo. If you have hard steering you will want to increase preload. If bouncing over bumps...increase preload. Bottoming...increase preload. Too harsh...reduce preload.

-Rear/Rear Shock-
2 clicks from full soft

-Torsion Springs(blocks)-
Medium

-Tranfer Rod(s)-
Between 1/2-3/4 full transfer. I run mine at 3/4 full transfer.

-Limiter Straps-
Stock

No need to replace springs for your weight. All you really need is Hygear spacers, I'm 250lbs aggressive trail spring currently setup at medium setting..

^ I Agree. I'm 215 with gear and with my hygear style spacers I made up I had my rear on soft all weekend. No bottoming at all.

I'm 270 lbs in my bday suit. I went with the Hygears and X-Click overload cams. Took out more than half the sag but put a lot of life back in the suspension when I'm on it. The Hygears on my wifes Phazer made a very impressive difference.
