I just went through this myself. Make sre the pod is inside the two tabs, If your rubber boot around the intake lid is not showing a gap, than you have the tabs correct.
If not, you will have to remove your pod anyway (pod = whole windshield, speedo gauges, the whole assemblu) there is a phillips head screw in the middle of the grey plastic. adjust to your liking. My low beams were also set too high, so I lowered them to where I want them, and the high beams follow suit. This got everything how I wanted.
If you are happy with your low beams height, then the spacing of the bulbs in the reflectors approach is the next step.
Hope that helps ya out. I just adjusted my lights down, and I have functional high beams and my lows are directed about 40' in front of my sled. which is perfect for day riding. and my high beams now are perfect for full time use at night. I just turn off my highs when passing oncoming traffic.
