I had seen a few posts wondering if this was possible to bolt in a 162 SE Skid in an 08/09 MTX. Just wanted to confirm for everyone that it is possible.

Here is the pic with the skid installed. Everything lined right. Swapped ot the stick wheels and axle for OFT billet's and big nutz kit.

So yes indeed, it bolts right up.

Hope to be able to test it within the next week.

which skid?

I have to put the 09 skid back together as I had the OFT wheels on there and sold them and the extension. Putting the skid back together early next week.

I will weigh it then.

I think the 10 skid is around 52-53 lbs.

I would be really interested to see actual weight if those skids. I just put a cat skid in my mm and it was 42 with no bogie wheels just scratchers if the 10 skid weighs that little makes you wonder how yamaha claims the weight loss they do switching to the cat arms on the new skid with the kit they sell.

HMMM. If the 2010 bolts right in I'm confused? I should be able to buy fox floats for center and rear skid, drop down the back end and lower the front with the adjustments available to change the approach angle, achieve basically everything Yamaha has from 2009/2010 with half the cost? That as opposed to buying a new skid?

Hmmmmmm, that looks very fimilar ;)! I weighed the skid with the stock wheels and axle, it was 57.5lbs.

Joe, Did you get much snow Saturday?? We got a ton!!!!

Finally got a chance to get out and ride with the skid.

Yes it did bolt right in. I did a full swap out. In theory you could probably change out the brackets, shocks, etc. However, its not just the shocks that are different. Really everything about the skid has changed.

Everything worked great and while i didn't get a chance to ride in very deep powder, the bit that I did, it seemed to connect better than the 09 skid.

The floats certainly made a significant difference in the ride and absorbing the bumps.

Hope to get up to the UP in the next few weeks to test it out in much better powder.

Here is a pic on the snow. (Yes, i added the 2nd set of idlers to help when on the trails.

I know - just let me know when you'll be at the shop and I'll swing out and pick some up!

Ran out of time last week before heading up north.

Will look way better with other wheels on there.

I tried to stay out of the sand pits this year too ;)
